Love doesn’t break from an affair
but from the laundry 👕💔
“Who’s doing the laundry today?”
“Why haven’t you hung it up after washing?”
“You’ve finished folding it, so why haven’t you put it away?”
These small sentences may build up and become a bigger problem in a relationship.
A study surveying more than 10,000 couples and married partners found that
🧺 Only 53.2% felt that the division of household labor in their relationship was fair.
🧺 Nearly 1 in 4 felt that they were at a disadvantage or carrying more of the burden.
🧺 People who felt that household labor was divided unfairly were more likely to report lower relationship satisfaction and a lower frequency of 🔞.
Meanwhile, another study analyzing 2 national datasets found that couples who shared household responsibilities equally had higher relationship quality among both men and women.
Of course, a single pile of laundry does not make anyone break up immediately.
But the exhaustion, having to keep reminding each other, and the feeling of
“Why do I have to handle this alone?”
are what gradually turn household chores into lingering resentment.
If you could remove one topic of argument from your home, you can start with the laundry pile 💙
