Ms. Jayanthi Gamage successfully earned her law degree while working as a domestic helper in Singapore. Originally from Sri Lanka, Ms. Gamage decided to pursue her law degree in Singapore, where she worked as a domestic helper earning twice as much as her previous job as an audit assistant back home. She made sacrifices, leaving the comfort of her home country to finance her education and fulfill her childhood dream of studying law.

Throughout her journey, Ms. Gamage faced challenges, including limited personal time and financial constraints. She remained focused and determined, viewing each obstacle as a learning opportunity. Despite moments of homesickness and longing to reunite with her family, she persevered towards her goal.

Ms. Gamage's dedication to her studies was evident even during her employment as a domestic helper. She sought understanding from her employers to balance work responsibilities with her academic pursuits. A turning point came when she found unwavering support from Ms. Manjit Kour, a retired professional who encouraged and aided her in studying diligently.

After completing her degree, Ms. Gamage faced a setback when her visa application to attend her graduation ceremony in London was rejected due to financial reasons. Undeterred, she expressed determination to celebrate her achievement in the future and pursue a master's degree at the National University of Singapore.

Ms. Gamage's educational attainment has already led to professional advancement, showcasing the rewards of her hard work. She aspires to continue her journey by aiming to become a lawyer in the future, particularly interested in corporate law.

Her inspiring story serves as a testament to the belief that age should not be a barrier to pursuing education and fulfilling one's dreams. Ms. Gamage hopes to motivate others from all walks of life to pursue higher education, emphasizing that with determination and dedication, it is never too late to achieve one's goals in life.
