Just a random Shout Out
Imagine i am selling a product for $400.
"Customer" finds its for $40 cheaper online, of course.
He asks me to price match....I politely declined.
So he bought the product online for $360.
And waited for it to be delivered.
He gets the product and it doesn't work correctly right out from the box.
He instantly calls ME asking me to help him with his product.
I politely told him he didn't purchase it from me, so he should contact the company he bought it from, where he replies "well they don't support this part, they just sell it."
I told him to then call the company who MANUFACTURE the product and that he has no reason to be calling me over this and he claims
"Well they said it should work and I'm doing something wrong"
Everybody see where this is heading?
So Yeah , he got pi**ed off because
"So you're saying you work with this product every day and can fix it, but can't help as I didn't buy it from you? "
Yes, exactly that, thats exactly what I'm saying. That $40 extra gets you the information and knowledge to actually know the product on how to use it and if you still don't understand after purchasing it, i would feel obligated to replace it or refund you...
But now you're just sitting with a paper weight from a company who has no idea who you are that took a s**t in a box and marked it guaranteed.
At NO time was there an offer to pay me and help with his product. I mentioned that help isn't free but all he would say is "I shouldn't have to pay, I just bought this and it was supposed to work"
Well not from me you didn't.
Obligations to you = zero
Today's lessons:
1. Support local business.
2. Don't be a cheapskate.
3. If you ignore #1 & #2 you can NOT be butthurt about someone refusing to help you when you're not their customer. That makes absolutely NO sense. I do not run a charity speed shop. You have done NO business with me and I'm sorry but I don't feel obligated to help. Does that make me an as***le? Maybe, but I happily go out of my way to make my REAL customers very happy daily.
Doing both #1 & #2 will ensure that us local businesses will still be around to share our knowledge with you.
