HOW TO DEEP CLEAN WASHER?
Have you ever wondered why your clothes are still smelly after washing? Have you ever pulled your freshly washed clothes out of the machine, and a sour smell wafts through the air? The most likely reason could be you have got a buildup of bacteria in your machine.
How long ago did you last clean your washer? Your washing machine NEEDS a clean. The gunk accumulated inside the washer needs to be cleaned out every month. Please keep in mind that your clothes are not getting clean in a dirty machine!
Let us show you the steps below to deep clean your washer.
Rubber seal
-Wipe out with paper towel
-Spray mold removal or bleach straight inside the space
-Pull rubber seal open and scrub the gunks with scrub brush
-Rinse and wipe off- with a cloth or paper towel
-Dry out the inside of the seal
Trap door
-Take out the pipe, unscrew and let out water,
-Open the filter door and clean out the filter by scrubbing with a scrub brush and rinsing it with hot, soupy water (to disinfect)
-Wipe the inside with a cloth or paper towel
-Put back n screw back super tight (to prevent water leakage)
Dispenser tray / Detergent tray
-Remove the tray and clean the accumulated dirt.
-Scrub the surrounding n wipe off.
Use a sponge to clean all the outer surfaces of the washer.
Wipe down with a warm damp cloth.
Lastly,
Use ‘washing machine cleaner’ eg. tide once a month to clean the inside of the washer (it cleans behind the drum where all stank builds up, it also works to remove hard water build up and soap residue)
If you do not have any washing machine cleaner, fret not! You can use baking soda and vinegar as shown in the video above.
Step 1: Pour 2 cups of baking soda directly inside the drum and run the hottest and longest cycle (act as mild scrubber and reduce odor)
Step 2: Pour 2 cups of plain white vinegar (optional add 5-10 drops lavender essential oil) directly inside the drum and run the longest and hottest cycle (this is to disinfect the washer)
Use a sponge to clean the drum if there are any stains inside.
*Additional Tips*
1. Leave the door open anytime you are not using and especially after a load. (this is to prevent any moisture from building up and letting the moisture evaporate)
2. Clean the dispenser tray frequently with hot and soapy water and use a toothbrush to scrub the tray
3. Make sure you clean the rubber seal (as above)
4. Clean the filter (Remove and clean at least every 6 months)
