TERMITES

Termites, species under phylum Arthropoda, class insecta, order isoptera but recent dna test their genetics are same with cockroaches in the order of Blattodea.

These species existed more than 55 million years ago, (cretaceous age). They are around 2,800 species in tropical and temperate global zones and none in frigid areas. In the Philippines there are 109 species considered destructive to structures and plantations. Severe destructive to structures are 54 species. The 42 species belong to Subterranean and 12 species are dampwood and drywood termites. Queen lays six (6) eggs in every minute; life span is 25-50 years and king life span is 5-7 years.
