๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ฌ ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ฆ๐ง๐ข๐ฅ๐ฌ: 63 years ago today, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints received legal recognition and was permitted to have full-time missionaries enter the country. Elder Gordon B. Hinckley, then an Assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, rededicated the Philippines for missionary work in 1961.
Several weeks later, ๐๐น๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐, ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ, ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐บ๐ฎ, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ผ๐ป, who had already served in the Southern Far East Mission (based in Hong Kong), were asked to extend their missionary service as the first group of missionaries to the Philippines.
