When working consumers don’t have time to do laundry, they rely on laundry helpers for relief.

Skills
Laundry helpers must be able to tolerate environments that are humid, warm and clean. Customer service skills are also important. Laundry helpers interact frequently with customers who require washing services. Finally, workers must be detailed-oriented to follow the special procedures, rules and agreements.

Basics
Laundry helpers start their day by receiving dirty clothing from costumers. The clothing items are then tagged so they can be returned to the correct customer. Helpers examine items in a pockets to avoid any incidents. They then load garments into machines and add detergent, bleach, fabric softener and other washing chemicals. They operate machines and monitor their progress. When the machines have finished, helpers remove, place clothing on hangers or fold it, and sort them by owner. Laundry helpers also clean and maintain laundry machines.
