The Philippine Phytopathological Society - Southern Mindanao Division This is the Official Facebook Group Page of the Philippine Phytopathological Society, Inc - Southern To achieve these, the Society is expected to:

1.

In line with the program of the Government through the Department of Agriculture to be aware of the importance of disease management and to increase crop productivity, the PPS-SMD was organized to:

1. Encourage and promote thorough scientific research, development of knowledge and technology on plant disease management;

2. Encourage professionals to transcend to interdisciplinary fields in th

e development and dissemination of the same to the farmers; and

3. Foster closer and effective working relationships between and among persons professionally and non-professionally engaged in plant pathological activities. Hold annual scientific meetings;

2. Publish research results in scientific journals and proceedings;

3. Disseminate technologies generated to the farmers ; and

4. Sponsor scholarship programs for poor but deserving students who will be trained as future pest control officers of the country.

Are you ready for our upcoming 5th Mindanao Summit?

We will discuss current issues and challenges affecting agricultural production including the impact of Climate Change. We have invited guests who will be talking about the impact of climate change in agriculture and some novel approaches to avert the negative effects on the ground including plant breeding climate resilient crops and precision farming. Topics on the Cavendish banana industry and sustainable cacao production in Mindanao will also be integrated in the discussion.
