Is it worth shifting from gas to electric?
It is not just energy prices that are shifting it is the line charges also. Historically it has been the energy charge that has gone up the most.
Steps
1. Reduce energy consumption – thermal drapes.
2. Insulate hot water piping.
3. Only heat the rooms you are in.
4. Watch TV with a blanket in winter.
5. Ensure there is a thermostat on electric heaters if it does not have one buy a thermostat to plug into the wall.
6. Get zoning on central heating to only heat the rooms you use most often.
7. Get a heat pump water heater to go outside the kitchen.
8. Is your ceiling insulation good enough?
9. Plug draughts.
10 Double glaze windows.

Re Line charges most gas users are paying around $80/month x 12 = $960.00 x 10 years =$9,600.00 (Current)
In 5 years it will be around 20 to 30% higher at current inflation but in 10 years it could be a lot higher.
The price of heat pumps installed replacing a gas continuous flow water heater is around $9600 depending on the site and cable run.
Electric storage users can get a saving too.
To reduce CO2 encourage the use of solar panels.
