Pets and pest control can coexist.

Goodnature traps use toxin-free lure pastes and are designed to target rodents, but like any trap, thoughtful placement and responsible setup matter, especially around curious pets.

A few simple adjustments can help give extra peace of mind around your companions 🐾

Smart. Humane. Toxin-free.

Not sure which setup to go with? Here’s what actually changes.

Trap Mount
Attaches your trap to a tree, fence, or post. Holds it in the right position and keeps things simple.

Trap Stand
Freestanding setup that does the same job, just without needing anything to mount to. Easy to move if needed.

Trap Box
Encloses the trap inside a protective box. Entry holes are sized for pests, helping guide them in while keeping pets and larger animals out.

Same A24 trap. Just different ways to set it up depending on your space and your needs.

Not sure how many traps you need? The right setup depends on your property size and the level of pest activity.

For smaller urban backyards or light rodent pressure, one trap is often a great place to start. But if you’re trapping across a larger property or establishing a wider network, our best practice recommendation is to use two A24 traps per hectare for effective rat control coverage.

Rodents follow established routes, so positioning multiple traps across active areas helps improve your chances of interrupting movement and reducing populations faster.

Whether you’re starting small or building out a full trapping network, getting the coverage right matters.

Cold weather has a funny way of bringing unwanted house guests a little too close for comfort.

As temperatures drop, rats start searching for warmth, shelter, and an easy feed. Which usually means sheds, garages, gardens, compost bins… and sometimes your roof cavity.

The good news? If your trap is already loaded, placed on an active rodent path, and ready to fire, there’s a very good chance the next curious visitor won’t be sticking around for long.

Set it before they settle in 🐀❄️

Not all pests look like pests.

Living just 50 metres from native forest and streams, Benjamin set up an A24 to protect his home from rats. What he didn’t expect to find was a hedgehog.

“At first I didn’t know how to feel. It wasn’t what I was expecting… and I wasn’t sure if it was a good or a bad thing.”

Then, less than 48 hours later, it happened again. A second hedgehog. Same trap.

That’s when it stopped feeling like a one-off… and started to feel like a bigger problem.

So he did what he always does. He researched it. What he found was confronting.

In Aotearoa, hedgehogs are introduced predators with no natural enemies. They prey on native insects, lizards and ground-nesting birds, quietly doing significant damage to fragile ecosystems.

Recently, Benjamin had been rescuing and relocating tree wētā from storm-felled trees into his garden. Creating a safe haven for native insects had become a small but meaningful way to protect what’s on his doorstep.

Then he learned this.

One study found 283 wētā legs in a single hedgehog’s stomach. That’s 47 wētā in just 24 hours.

“Any doubts I had disappeared pretty quickly. The reality is, protecting native wildlife means dealing with the predators that threaten it.”

It’s not always easy. But it is necessary.

Goodnature traps work hard to protect what matters most. No toxins. No guesswork. Just a smarter, more humane way to care for our indigenous ecosystem.

What happens when tourism and fun adventures help restore an ancient forest?

At Rotorua Canopy Tours, guests don’t just fly through an ancient native forest, they help bring it back to life.

After 12 years of sustained pest control and restoration, native birds are returning, biodiversity is rebuilding, and the impact is going deeper than anyone first imagined.

Independent testing now shows this restored forest stores up to 5x more carbon than nearby pine plantations.

That’s not just good news for the forest. It tells a powerful story about the value of ancient native ecosystems, and it starts underground, where healthy soil systems rebuilt through restoration are locking carbon away for the long term.

It’s proof that restoring old native forests isn’t just good for biodiversity, it’s a powerful climate solution for our futures too.

5 minutes now = less problems later.

Check your lure.
Check your gas.
Top up if needed.

Then leave your trap to do its thing.

Trying to decide between the Lure Basket and the Automatic Paste Pump?

If your kit comes with both, it can be hard to know which to use. Here’s the difference.

The Automatic Paste Pump (APP) is the low maintenance option.
It comes pre-filled with lure (chocolate, nut butter, or meat lovers) and once it’s in, it lasts up to six months without needing attention.

The Lure Basket gives you more control.
You can use whatever food you like, pet food, fruit, veg, peanut butter. It is especially useful if you know what pests in your area go for. It just needs to be checked and refreshed more often.

So it comes down to this:
APP = less effort, longer lasting
Lure Basket = more control, more upkeep

Both work. It just depends what suits you.
