Molly’s.... The Story
Molly’s was born out of the need to provide an income for myself and two young children following a marriage breakdown. With a background in Veterinary science and then transferring my skills to paramedicine shift work was no longer viable so I advertised in the local community to clean homes. This was almost five years ago and since that moment, where I thought I had lost everything I had worked for and was at the bottom again, I found that old adage was true: ‘Sometimes when you loose, you really win’.
As the trickle of work became a steady stream I found I needed more help, and another single parent joined me cleaning, then another, and another .... By 2017 I had stepped back from much of the hands on work and was running a team of eleven ladies; many of whom could not get work due to family commitments, being out of the work force for too long or simply not having a workplace skill set after raising a family.
I have kept my hand in the medical workplace still, but dedicate myself to my two boys, now at primary school, my dog ‘Molly’, and the business that provides a helpful service to the busy people of our community; as well as giving more women meaningful work that gives them independence, financial pride and self respect.
Of course this is only possible with the support of my lovely clients, who not only appreciate the hard work put into the service, but in turn provide job security, a viable income and self worth to many women in our community that are constrained by the workplace 9-5 regime.
