Confined Space Cleaning for Challenging Environments

CST Group provides specialist confined space cleaning for industrial and commercial sites - backed by experienced crews, purpose-built equipment and end-to-end waste handling.

When a tank, pit, sump, process vessel or wastewater asset requires cleaning, we can manage the job from planning and site preparation, through to material recovery, transport and disposal.

Our industrial crews support planned shutdowns, routine maintenance and one-off cleanouts across dairy, food processing, timber, pulp and paper, water and wastewater facilities.

We work alongside your site team and within your existing site requirements, including inductions, permit-to-work systems, isolations and reporting procedures.

With specialist cleaning, vacuum recovery and liquid waste equipment available through one team, we can coordinate the full scope through a single point of contact.

CST Group can provide:
• Job-specific planning and safety documentation
• Confined-space entry and specialist cleaning
• Atmospheric testing and monitoring
• Vacuum recovery of liquids, sludge and residue
• High-pressure water jetting and drain cleaning
• Liquid and sludge cartage to an appropriate disposal facility

September’s review winner is… Brett Wallace! 🎉

Congratulations, Brett! There’s a Prezzy Card coming your way!

Brett chose CST Group for his septic tank clean and had these lovely words to share:

“CST are easy to deal with. Quick to respond to any questions and were available when we needed our septic tank cleaned. Service on the day was outstanding. There was a blockage that was dealt with quickly, as well as the tank being cleaned. We got quotes from multiple companies but chose CST due to the professional level of correspondence.”

Thanks, Brett! We’re proud to hear that our communication helped you choose CST, and that the team backed it up with outstanding service on the day. Taking care of our customers starts well before the truck arrives!

Is your septic tank due for a clean? Get in touch with our team to book it in. Whether you’re a returning customer or contacting us for the first time, we’re here to help.

A big thank you to everyone who leaves us a review. Your feedback recognises the hard work of our team and helps others feel confident choosing our family-owned business.

Some job sites are definitely easier on the eyes than others!

The CST Group Hydrovac team has had a pretty impressive office view while working at Pepes Stream in Tairua.

We’re supporting Fulton Hogan on the new two-lane bridge, using Hydrovac to remove seawater, mud and material around the piling works.

It’s a good example of where Hydrovac comes into its own - working in tight conditions, around water, and in areas where precision matters.

Jobs like this aren’t always straightforward, and that’s exactly where the right equipment and an experienced team make the difference.

Not a bad backdrop for a day on the tools either.

If you’ve got a civil or infrastructure project with challenging access, wet ground conditions or a job that needs a more controlled excavation method, talk to us!

Hydrovac has been keeping us busy lately

With construction works about to get underway on a big project, we had two Hydrovac trucks on night shift last week helping get the service locating and exposing completed ahead of time.

Harman and Raj put in some big hours, working from around 5pm through to 4–5am over three nights.

And this one wasn’t your average hydrovac job. The ground threw up some much bigger rocks than we’d normally encounter, which meant a few had to be manually removed by the team along the way. A big job and some solid work from the guys. 💪

A big shoutout to both of them for putting in the hard yards and getting the job done.

Not every job fits the standard mould. We work around your programme, your team and the challenges on site to find a solution that works.

Talk to us about your project requirements and we will make it work.

Is your septic tank trying to tell you something?

Slow drains, unpleasant smells, gurgling pipes or suspiciously soggy patches of lawn can all be warning signs that your septic system needs attention.

Catching these signs early can help you avoid messy backups, emergency callouts and potentially expensive repairs. Regular pumping is important too, for many properties, this means every 2–4 years, depending on tank size, household size and water usage.

We’ve put together a quick guide covering the common septic tank warning signs and what to look out for around your property.

More hydrovac work keeping the CST Group team busy

Our Hydrovac team were out on the Cambridge Expressway last week supporting Fulton Hogan with service locating ahead of works in the area.

Using hydrovac, we carefully exposed and identified existing underground services, helping provide the information needed before the next stage of work can begin.

Once the services had been identified, we were back on site to complete the backfilling and leave the area ready for the next stage of works.

Safe, precise and efficient. Just how we like it.

From locating through to backfilling, CST Group can take care of the job from start to finish.

Talk to us about hydrovac support for your next project.

Hydrovac at Work on Symes Bridge

The CST Group Hydrovac team were on site last week supporting Oxcon with the Symes Bridge replacement, following the damage caused during the February storms. Our part of the job was all about using our Hydrovac equipment to safely expose and confirm the existing underground services before construction progresses. Rather than relying on guesswork or more aggressive excavation methods around live services, we can expose what’s there with greater control and precision. A solid bit of groundwork for an important piece of infrastructure. Great to be working alongside the Oxcon team on this one. 👊 If you need underground services safely exposed on your next civil or industrial project, talk to our team.

CCTV in action: checking what’s happening below ground

On Friday, our team was out supporting Groundscan with CCTV pipe inspections, checking stormwater and wastewater assets for a detailed location and condition report.

CCTV pipe inspections are an effective way to confirm the location and condition of existing pipework before construction, maintenance or repair work begins, taking the guesswork out of what’s happening underground.

Using specialist CCTV equipment, we can:
- Confirm pipe locations and connectivity
- Assess the condition of existing pipework
- Identify cracks, blockages, intrusions and other faults
- Pinpoint problem areas before work begins
- Provide detailed footage and reporting to support better decision-making

With extensive industry experience, our team delivers clear, reliable information to help you make informed decisions about your drainage and pipework.

Not sure what’s happening underground? Get in touch with the team to discuss how our CCTV pipe inspections can help give you a clear picture.
