Decluttering Challenge!
If you are anything like me, clutter and too much stuff makes me a bit 'edgey'. I like clean spaces that are calm and don't trigger a sensory overload. A couple of years ago I posted about my resolution to not buy so much stuff and to get rid of stuff. I'm setting myself a challenge to start again. Who's with me?
Are you tired of feeling overwhelmed by clutter? Let's tackle it together!
Here's a simple challenge:
1. Set a timer for 10 minutes.
2. Choose a cluttered area (like your desk or living room).
3. Grab a box or bag.
4. Fill it with items you no longer need or love.
That's it! You'll be amazed at how much you can declutter in just 10 minutes.
Tips to keep you going:
Start small. Focus on one area at a time.
Let go of duplicates or items that no longer serve you.
Create a "maybe" box for items you're unsure about.
Donate or recycle items that are still in good condition.
Share your decluttering progress with us! What area will you tackle first?

One of mine is to stop buying 'stuff'
Chances are that like me, you have too much stuff. House stuff, kid stuff, stuff I thought I needed but didn't, stuff that would make my life easier but doesn't, stuff that promised to make me fitter/skinnier...it didn't🤔 Too much stuff and not enough space. The amount of stuff in a space can be overwhelming for some (ME!) Clutter can be stressful not only because of the continual visual stimuli it provides, it takes longer to find things and longer again to clean and tidy and we are all busy enough without adding in extra cleaning.
Here's 5 tips to begin the process of eliminating and creating a more calm, organised and relaxed living space
1. If something comes in, something goes out
2. When it no longer fits, the zip is broken or you just don't reach for it anymore, out, out, out
3. Consider selling, donating or binning anything you don't use or love. Start in one space to begin with, a kitchen cupboard for example, consider the space an item takes up as expensive real estate. Are you using the ice cream maker, bread maker, juicer, air fryer, candy floss flosser enough to justify their rent? Reducing the amount of stuff we own can actually simplify our every day lives. The least of which being, we have fewer decisions to make, which can actually be a good thing.
4. When purchasing something new and nice, a tee shirt, a candle, a vase, do you really need it in every colour way? Probably not.....with the exception of shoes, shoes are ALWAYS the exception😅
5. Do a 10 minute tidy up of your kitchen and living space before you go to bed. Pop the dishwasher on and put things away not down. Your day starts so much better when you wake up to a tidy space.
Often when we realise we are running out of space, our go-to solution becomes part of the problem, we buy more 'stuff' in the form of storage containers, shelving, bins and boxes to store said stuff and whilst I agree that these can be helpful, aesthetically pleasing and can solve a myriad of storage problems, the real problem often remains; that there is too much stuff.
We all tolerate varying amounts of stuff, what works for you might not for me and vice versa, but If you are finding it hard to relax in your home, are overwhelmed with where to start when it comes to organising and cleaning, you have to clear and clean before you can prepare a meal, or move a mountain of washing/Lego creations just to have a place to sit, then chances are you have too much stuff for YOU. I am not suggesting you ditch Aunty Iris's old tea spoon collection, just be conscious of what comes into your home, the purpose it serves and what serves you.
May your 2023 be filled with more joy and less stuff🥂
