It’s not just old houses that need their chimneys swept, last week we were called out to a modern house near Maramarua that had a birds nest in the flue, unfortunately the owner had lit the fire & the birds nest had caught on fire!

The house filled with smoke & the TV mounted on the wall above melted.

We took 2 bin liners full of birds nest material out but at least the fire is now useable…

Fixed a problem with a revolving flue top today on a steep damp roof, had all the abseiling gear out to stay safe!

The fault with the Yunca fire smoking into the room was the wind blowing down the flue from certain directions, so not all the time.

Was good to get it sorted as it’s the only heating in the house
