3 Rats this morning with some leftovers who needs poisons when you just use traps from the warehouse and Bunnings.

How passionate is this trapper

Facts for Friday:

Southland trapper working 7 days a week about 7 hours per day.
No use of poison. No birds harmed.
Over 3 weeks trapping, using an average of up to 140 traps.

This is the outcome:
384 possums
3 rats
8 hedghogs
In total 35kg fur which is worth $3650

Costs? He had to acquire public liability insurance & a radio for the contract. Average of costs $100 over the 3 weeks.
This achieved by one man working hard whilst suffering chronic pain due to ill health, but motivated to prove how possums are in fact a viable resource.

And poisoning our land & water totally unnecessary.

2 more possums today well done to the boys for getting in there and having ago I've come to that conclusion sometimes it's not always about how many you get as long as your getting out there and having fun and helping the environment.

This Sunday there will be a meeting at Oparau Hall at 3pm to discuss about the 1080 drop around Aotea and all away around Kawhia harbour this weekend if you can come along it would mean a lot to everyone in our community thank you.

What a great morning to be out trapping and checking the lines thanks to my offsider Hunta for coming out yesterday and setting some traps with me and teaching him the basics of possum trapping
