After three incredible years delivering car detailing to everyday car lovers and enthusiasts, George's Detailing Garage will be closing its doors tomorrow Monday 27 November.

I'm extremely proud of the Garage and all the work it's achieved.

Built from scratch during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, this humble operation has now enhanced and protected hundreds of cars. Everything from supercar-powered SUVs, to one-of-a-kind Mercedes AMGs, to Japanese sports car legends, and EV straight-line monsters.

But beyond the cars, I'll miss working with all of you. From my passionate clients, to the dedicated car community organisers, and my peers in the detailing/car care industry. Thanks for your support and your humour - it's been a pleasure.

I'll spend the next few days wrapping up business and completing existing bookings.

However, from today, I will not be accepting any new bookings. Auto replies will be set on all messaging platforms except on email (for those who need to reach me). Social media channels will eventually be unpublished before the New Year.

This sleek Tesla Model 3 came in for a quick Maintenance Detail; and added a ceramic coating package to its glass, interior leather, carpets and fabrics.

I’ve looked after this Model 3 for close to two years. It proves the case that a diligent owner with regular upkeep can make easily maintain a ceramic coating for the long term.

Adding the full ceramic suite to the Tesla’s large glass profile and dark leather interior only strengthens its utility.

This Subaru Impreza STI chose the Ceramic Detail to enhance and protect its bold finish.

Its paint work presented the swirls, oxidation and contaminants you'd expect from a 14 year old car. It needed two stages of paint correction to refine its grey paint work.

I installed a robust ceramic coating and borrowed some of the weekend sun to thoroughly cure it, leaving it with a gloss truly befitting of its rally DNA.

This Volkswagen Golf chose the Ceramic Detail to enhance its finish and protect it with a powerful ceramic coating.

As you'd expect from a 15 year old car, this Golf's paintwork was marred by scratches and swirls induced by everyday use. Some panels showed light oxidation - most likely caused by exposure to the elements.

It needed an aggressive decontamination stage before it was ready for paint correction.

A suite of iron and tar removers, and an entire clay bar, was needed to truly clean and decontaminate its panels, glass and aftermarket wheels.

Only then could I crack on with a two stage paint correction. The upfront cleaning made paint correction a breeze, and distracting defects were reduced or corrected across the entire car.

These results were locked in with a powerful ceramic coating providing unrivalled hydrophobicity and chemical resistance.

With weather the way it is, I cured this overnight and released it with a pre delivery sealant to ensure its coating was safe for the Wellington roads!

This Tesla Model 3 came in for the Maintenance Detail to refresh its ceramic coating and attack water spotting.

The Model 3 was ceramic coated some 18 months ago, and due to its owner’s hard work, its coating is thriving.

However, patchy rain and aggressive sun left its finish with road film and water spotting.

A slightly acidic car soap and acid treatment made easy work of water spotting. Its thorough cleaning properties also revived the coatings hydrophobicity and slickness.

I took it inside for a non abrasive glazing, with a SiO2 infused sealant even on inner door jambs and glass pillars to complete the picture.

This gnarly BMW M2 stopped by for an urgent Maintenance Detail ahead of an upcoming car event.

Its blacked out exterior was covered in thick road grime after a lengthy road trip to Wellington. With the weather packing in, I needed to get this cleaned, sealed and dried off in time for the fine spells.

The trick for heavily soiled cars - especially after a New Zealand roadie - is working in incremental stages. Rushing leads to scratching. Here's an idea of how I worked:

➡️ Lift bonnet and let wheels and panels cool down. Inspect.
➡️ Water blast wheels, lower panels and rear door and front grille.
➡️ Foam cannon, clean wheels while foam dwells.
➡️ Water blast car. Foam cannon.
➡️ Two bucket hand wash. Water blast car.
➡️ Spray wet sealant on panels, glass and wheels.
➡️ Towel dry then blow dry car.

Whether a daily driver or a brand new sports car like this M2 - if your vehicle presents with heavy dirt and grime - I'll be taking extra precautions to leave it better than I found it.

This BMW left a glossy exterior and a sacrificial SiO2-infused layer to protect it on the road trip home.

This stunning Golf R32 came in for its regular Maintenance Detail.

I ceramic coated this hot hatch late last year, so it was a perfect time for a Maintenance Detail and sealant topper.

Its owner had diligently cared for it leaving its coating healthy and slick. Check out those water beads!

The R32 was topped with a robust sealant to complement its existing coating. It left the Garage with a bright finish and a slick, hydrophobic coating.

This unique Nissan Fairlady Z chose the Correction Detail to enhance its sporty finish.

Packaged with Track Edition features like limited edition wheels, Brembo brakes, and a unique brown colour, there was a LOT to gain with a deep clean and intensive paint correction.

This one was a BIG detailing job as its age showed across its exterior.

The headlights were in dire need of restoration, and panels were covered in deep scratches and swirling.

The results were insane. Its unique colour came to life, while its iconic face and staunch wheels gained a much deserved shine.
