Rodents are one of the most unwanted pests to find in your home — and often, they’re detected only after they’ve already settled in. Keeping an eye out for the early warning signs can help prevent a small issue from becoming a major infestation.

Here are 5 common signs to watch for:

• Scurrying or scratching noises in walls, ceilings, attics, or roof voids
• Droppings, especially around kitchens and hidden areas where rodents travel
• Gnaw marks or damage on hard materials
• A strong urine smell in enclosed spaces
• Nests made from paper, insulation, or fabrics hidden behind appliances, under floorboards, or in lofts and ceilings

If you notice any of these signs, it may be time to take action before the problem grows.

Clothes moths are a different kind of household pest — it’s not the moths you see that cause the damage, but their larvae.

These tiny larvae feed on natural fibres like wool, silk, cashmere, feathers, and leather, often leaving holes in clothing that can’t be repaired.
The problem usually starts quietly, with eggs hidden in wardrobes, carpets, and soft furnishings.

If you’re dealing with clothes moths at home, contact Procare for professional pest control support!

Seen cockroaches around your kitchen lately? Here are a few simple ways to help keep them under control before they become a bigger problem 👇

• Keep kitchens and food preparation areas clean, especially around appliances where food crumbs and grease can build up.
• Empty rubbish and compost regularly, and make sure bins are tightly sealed.
• Check groceries and fresh produce before bringing them inside to avoid accidentally introducing pests into your home.
• Reduce clutter in cupboards and storage areas to minimise hiding spots.
• Fix leaking taps or excess moisture, as cockroaches are attracted to water sources.

If you’re noticing frequent sightings, especially during the day, there may already be a larger infestation hiding nearby.

If you’ve spotted cockroaches during the day, it could be a sign there are more hiding around your home.

Here are some common hiding spots to check:

• Behind and inside kitchen appliances
• Under sinks and around plumbing
• Cracks in walls, skirting boards & door frames
• Inside cupboards, drawers & pantries
• In cardboard boxes & cluttered storage areas
• Warm, dark spaces like switchboards or ceiling cavities

These areas provide the food, moisture, and shelter cockroaches need to thrive.
Smaller species like German Cockroaches tend to infest indoors, while larger Bush Cockroaches are usually outdoor pests that may wander inside occasionally.

If you’re noticing signs of cockroaches around your home, don’t hesitate to reach out - we’re here to help.

Have you or your family ever been bitten at home? The itching, discomfort, and not knowing what’s causing it can take away from the one place meant for comfort and relaxation.

The most common bites we hear about from our clients are bed bugs, fleas, and mosquitoes. So how can you tell the difference—and make sure you’re treating the right pest?

Bed Bugs
• Bites often appear on exposed areas while sleeping (face, neck, arms, hands)
• Commonly form in small clusters, lines, or zig-zag patterns
• Usually itchy, but not typically painful
• You may notice small blood spots on sheets
• Dark specks (droppings) can sometimes be found on mattresses or bedding

Fleas
• Small red bumps, sometimes with a tiny central puncture point
• Very itchy—often more intense than other bites
• Usually found in clusters around ankles, feet, and lower legs
• Often linked to pets—excess scratching in cats or dogs can be a key sign

Mosquitoes
• Raised, puffy bumps with a pale centre and reddish surrounding area
• Appear randomly on exposed skin
• Itchiness usually starts quickly after the bite

Not sure what’s biting you? Getting the identification right is the first step to solving the problem.

Do not hesitate to reach out to our Procare Office for help.

As it gets colder, we’re not the only ones looking for a warm place to stay... Rats and mice are on the move too.

If you’re noticing anything unusual around the house, this guide breaks down how they get in and what to look out for.

Rats and mice are common household pests, especially during the cooler months. Understanding how rodents enter your home and recognising the early warning signs can help prevent a small issue from becoming a larger infestation.

Ants are incredibly intelligent insects, working hard to gather food for their colony. Unfortunately, that often means our homes become an easy target.

Many people have heard of ant pheromone trails. These are chemical paths ants leave behind, allowing others in the colony to follow a reliable food source. These trails fade quickly, which is why you’ll often see long lines of ants reinforcing the scent as they go.

A simple way to help prevent this is by wiping down trails with vinegar or soapy water - This removes the scent and disrupts their path.

However, this may not be enough. If the ants keep coming back, we’re always here to help.
