"This summer I have been using REDACT from Key Industries on my horses to repel flies and ticks and my horses and I are loving the results, within minutes the flies are no longer interested and I have not had one single tick. I have been applying diluted in a bucket with a sponge as my horses do not like spray bottles. I am also using it with a spray bottle on the yard and stable walls and the interior of the horse float.

Your farrier will love you for it as no more pesky flies irritating your horse while getting the feet done.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Ask your local Farmlands to order it in if they don't have it on the shelf.

From the Far North we travelled to the 𝐁𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲, meeting up with our colleague 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫 and visiting replicated kiwifruit trials led by 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 (Startafresh).

The Syncron® blocks looked excellent, easily comparable to the rest of the orchard. This season we’re testing different nitrogen sources for ease of use and efficacy, with positive early signs and full data expected at season end.

We also visited BOP growers using Syncron® for the first time, and it was encouraging to see good consistency despite the tough, cold start to the season.

We wrapped up the week with a debrief with our Key Industries GM Andre before sending a well-travelled Patricio back to Spain.

It’s fantastic to have the continued close support of 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐬𝐚, and this marks the second visit from their technical team. With Syncron® used successfully across Europe and South America for decades, we value having this global expertise at our fingertips.

While in the Far North, we visited two wineries trialling 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐧® 𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬 for improved budding and synchronisation.

Our first stop was 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, north of Kerikeri, a vineyard overlooking the historic bay where Europeans first stepped onto NZ soil. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐧®-𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜, showing stronger development and noticeably improved synchronisation compared to vines relying on natural budbreak.

It was a pleasure to have members of the 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 join us onsite to see these early results. Syncron® is showing strong 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 in this region.

Last week we were fortunate to host 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨 from 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐬𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧, suppliers of Syncron® and Naturamin WSP®, during his visit to New Zealand.

Donna Daken (Lower North Island, Key Account Manager & Technical Representative ) and I travelled the North Island with Patricio, beginning in the 𝐅𝐚𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 with a grower meeting at 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐞’𝐬 (𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬).

Alan is running comparative trials using 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐧® 𝐯𝐬 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐞 for enhanced budbreak and synchronisation. As expected at this stage, Syncron® treatments appear slightly behind Hi-C due to their different mode of action, but based on previous seasons, we know they catch up well over time.

We also visited other kiwifruit orchards using Syncron®, giving Patricio first-hand insight into the challenges of low winter chill in the Far North and the resulting variability in budbreak after this season’s cold snap.
