A crucial part of the Le Gerre biomethane project has arrived: three activated carbon filters.

These filters form the first line of defence for the upgrading system, protecting the membranes from impurities present in raw biogas.

Fresh from the digester, biogas contains hydrogen sulphide, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other trace contaminants. If these are not removed, they can impact equipment performance and increase maintenance needs.

Before the gas reaches the membranes, it first passes through activated carbon filters that remove these unwanted compounds. This ensures the upgrading system can efficiently separate biomethane from CO₂ while operating reliably over the long term.

Good pretreatment is the foundation of a reliable biomethane plant.

Every hour of uptime downstream starts with good pretreatment upstream.

Duurzame technologie voelt soms ver weg. Terwijl ze dichterbij is dan je denkt.

Soms zelfs in het biertje dat je op een festival drinkt. 🍺

Afgelopen vrijdag stond onze Head of Technology Martin Bos op de Zwarte Cross Universitent met zijn talk "Van mest naar moleculen."

Hij nam het publiek mee in het verhaal achter onze technologie: hoe mest bijvoorbeeld wordt omgezet in biogas, hoe wij biogas opwerken tot groen gas en hoe de CO₂ die daarbij vrijkomt, wordt vervloeid en opnieuw wordt ingezet.

Bijvoorbeeld als koolzuur in het bier dat veel bezoekers op dat moment dronken.

Samen met de Universiteit Twente werken we ook aan de volgende stap: e-methanol. Een nieuw molecuul met veel potentie. Het publiek vond alleen dat het op de Zwarte Cross nog wel een betere naam kon gebruiken: "e-Martinol"

Bedankt aan iedereen die erbij was en luisterde naar het verhaal achter onze technologie.

Wat denk je dat een dampende hoop stront en de bubbels in je biertje met elkaar gemeen hebben?

Meer dan je zou denken.

Op het festival Zwarte Cross gaat Martin Bos, Head of Technology bij HoSt Group, terug naar zijn roots als UT-alumnus en legt hij uit hoe mest en organisch afval worden omgezet in groene moleculen zoals biomethaan en bio-CO2, en hoe HoSt en UT e-methanol ontwikkelen uit deze afvalstromen.

CO2 heeft misschien een slechte reputatie, maar Martin maakt er iets waardevols van, net als de bubbels in je drankje. Door slim gebruik te maken van afval pakt HoSt de energietransitie aan en vermindert het de CO2-uitstoot. Dit is het soort innovatie dat Bright Renewables, onderdeel van HoSt Group, drijft.

From biogas to renewable gas for everyday use. ⚡

At Castelnuovo Scrivia, Italy, an existing biogas plant is being transformed into a biomethane facility. We are delivering the biomethane upgrading system as part of this project, enabling renewable gas to be injected into the local gas network and supplied to homes and businesses.

Behind every cubic metre of renewable gas is a complex process of upgrading, integration, and engineering. The result is simple: renewable energy that works within the infrastructure already in place.

First gas injection is planned for 2028.

Heavy transport and maritime shipping require renewable energy solutions that can perform today, and Bio-LNG is proving to be one of the most mature options.

The first Industrial Revolution began in Birmingham, changing how Britain was powered. More than 250 years later, we're helping change what powers it. 🏭

From Durham in the north to Murrow in Cambridgeshire, and with projects across Ireland, our biogas upgrading technology is turning locally produced biogas into renewable biomethane for homes, businesses and transport.

It's a different kind of energy revolution. Less smoke. More sustainability. Built one project, one farm and one grid connection at a time.

We're proud to announce the official opening of Bright Renewables Spain, focused on ensuring reliable operation, performance and availability of our biogas upgrading plants.

Because our work doesn't stop when a plant is delivered. Long-term value is created through continuous performance, proactive maintenance and reliable support throughout the full lifecycle of the installation.

Spain is one of Europe's most dynamic biogas and biomethane markets, and with an increasing number of installations in the region, strengthening our local Service & Maintenance presence is a natural next step.

Through this local team, we will support customers with faster response times, preventive and predictive maintenance, and close collaboration with our engineering and remote monitoring teams. Ensuring our biogas upgrading technology continues to perform at its best, every day.
