Europe’s biomethane opportunity doesn’t end at commissioning.

With almost 2,000 biomethane plants across Europe, significant production capacity is already in place. But having the capacity to produce biomethane doesn't mean a plant is always operating at its full potential.

Equipment issues, downtime and maintenance all affect production. And while not every production gap can be solved through maintenance alone, improving plant reliability is an important part of getting more from existing installations.

At Bright Renewables, our service and process engineers support plant operators with predictive maintenance, real-time remote monitoring and 24/7 local service support, helping keep plants running reliably throughout their lifetime.

One week in, and it already feels like home again.

Our first week at our new headquarters in Hengelo has flown by. New spaces, familiar faces, and the great feeling of being back where it all began!

Biogas upgrading gives you biomethane. But there's a second product hiding in the process - CO₂ rich off-gas. 🌱

CarboPac-L captures the CO₂ from the upgrader and liquefies it into food-grade liquid bioCO₂, ready to sell into markets like greenhouse horticulture, beverages, food packaging and refrigeration.

It means an extra revenue stream, a better carbon intensity score and less dependence on fossil-based CO₂, all from the same plant.

Getting more out of your biomethane plant starts with reducing methane losses. 🌱

Methane slip affects a plant’s greenhouse gas footprint and can also influence the value of its biomethane, particularly in Germany’s transport fuel market.

At Bright Renewables, our upgrading systems are designed to minimise methane slip, while our CO₂ liquefaction systems recover methane from the off-gas to help improve biomethane’s greenhouse gas intensity. For installations in Germany, an optional RTO can treat the remaining methane and support compliance with applicable TA Luft requirements.

We’re putting this into practice in Eldena, Germany, where installation of our PurePac Compact 700 Nm³/h upgrading system, complete with an RTO, is well underway.

Two project managers, two technologies, one shared goal: creating a blueprint for bio-LNG. 🤝

In Hardanger, western Norway, we’re partnering with Nordsol for the first time to deliver a bio-LNG plant for Vireo As. Our PurePac system upgrades biogas into high-purity biomethane, which Nordsol’s liquefaction technology turns into bio-LNG for heavy road transport and maritime applications. The plant is expected to produce around 90 GWh of bio-LNG a year from local salmon processing residues and poultry manure.

Ruud Meulenbroek, our Project Manager, and Dorota Pigiel Leal, Project Manager at Nordsol, are leading the project together.

“Normally we deliver the gas into the grid, and that is easy for us,” says Ruud. “Here we deliver to Nordsol and have to match their demand with our production.”

For Dorota, the ambition goes beyond Hardanger: “Our goal is to create a blueprint. Not only a system that works this one time, but one that works for all the future projects.”

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻! In the Netherlands, when it’s your birthday, you bring the cake. So that’s exactly what we did in every HoSt Group office across Europe and North America.

We turned 35, and our colleagues celebrated the way it should be done: with a good cup of coffee and a generous slice of cake. In the Netherlands, the cake was served in our new headquarters in Hengelo, where we moved in this week.

We work from many locations, but we all started from the same idea, born in Hengelo, the Netherlands, in 1991: waste can become energy. Thirty-five years later, that idea is carried by people in different countries, time zones, and teams.

Thank you to all our colleagues for 35 years of (green) energy. Here’s to the next 35!

Italy’s biomethane market is moving forward, and we’re helping drive that progress. 🇮🇹

Across the country, we are helping plant owners and project developers turn biogas into high-quality biomethane for the gas grid. With multiple installations in Italy and a local team on the ground, we bring the technology and project experience to support the next phase of Italy's biomethane production.

One exciting development? Repowering existing biogas plants. Together with, HoSt Bioenergy Systems, we’re transforming three biogas plants into modern biomethane production facilities, with a combined end capacity of 2,200 Nm³/h. It’s an opportunity to make better use of existing assets while contributing to Italy’s growing biomethane market.

35 years ago, it all started in Hengelo. Today, we’re back.

During our 35th anniversary week, HoSt Group Netherlands opened the doors to our new headquarters, and we couldn’t think of a better week to start working here.

After a while spread across two locations, everyone is under one roof again, and you can feel it. People wander over to each other’s desks, conversations pick up in the hallways, and the ones who went months without sharing a coffee are catching up again.

Enschede, thank you for 16 great years. Hengelo, it’s good to be home. ❤️

𝗛𝗶𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗽 𝗵𝗼𝗲𝗿𝗮! That's what we sing in the Netherlands when someone celebrates their birthday. And today, it's our turn: HoSt Group, of which Bright Renewables is part, turns 35. 🎉

We're celebrating 35 years by building for the next 35.

On 18 October 1991, Herman Klein Teeselink and a small team in Hengelo started with one idea: waste can become energy. Today that idea runs in plants all over the world, built by people who believed in it, then and now.

We'll be singing it today and tomorrow, but certainly not only then. We are celebrating this for a whole year, so you'll be hearing it a lot more. Including, of course, at our famous anniversary weekend next year.

So keep an eye on this page. Tomorrow we move into our new headquarters in Hengelo. We chose that date on purpose: it is the very first working day of our anniversary year.

And every birthday deserves something new. In the video, you get the very first look at our anniversary logo.
