The cleaning industry can be quite an eye opener.
Sometimes you meet a client who is a friend, an acquaintance, or someone connected to you.
You approach the job professionally, inspect the space, prepare a budget, and present your quotation.
If the client feels the price is too high, you welcome a negotiation. If their budget doesn't work for your business, you politely decline because there is no point taking on a job that leaves you at a loss.
Everything is handled with respect no insults, no arguments, no unprofessional conduct.
Yet, some people respond by belittling your work. They begin to say things like, "I can get it done cheaper elsewhere," or make unnecessary comments that demean your business.
At that point, I often wonder, if it is how they treat the people around them?
A failed negotiation should never become an excuse to disrespect someone's profession.
Every business has its pricing, every client has a budget, and not every deal will work out.
That's perfectly normal. Respect should remain, even when the answer is "NO".
Professionalism isn't just about how you do business when a deal is closed, it's also about how you conduct yourself when the deal doesn't happen.
