Like any other business, JaGaApp has felt the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic. As Malaysia was recorded to be the worst-hit country in Southeast Asia, working from home has become the new norm for most of us after the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented. As we worked through the challenges, we cannot help but feel for local businesses that are experiencing much worse. The team took steps a
nd discussed new ways to work in which we can help contribute towards the community during these trying times. While the team had zero experience in handling such a crisis, we realised it could be the first time for many local businesses as well. Hence, we set out to help them as much as we could by setting up campaigns, handing out hand sanitisers to our vendors providing essential services, helping to deliver groceries to communities, and more. After the first extension of the MCO, we thought to ourselves, “How can we do more?” We’ve noticed that one of the problems our vendors and partners faced include the loss of exposure. The restricted movement has made traditional promotional methods ineffective as people are now staying at home, making it difficult for vendors to carry out their duties. Finally, after brainstorming for days, we’ve decided to set up a platform called HeyJaGa, designed to connect not just our service partners and vendors, but also the rest of the service vendors facing the same issue, to potential customers. HeyJaGa aims to help service vendors regain more exposure they once had and to allow potential clients to prepare their own self-care plan after the long journey of combatting COVID-19. As our country experiences a loss by the billions daily, we felt the pressure to kick-start the platform as soon as possible. We’ve decided to push out a beta version with just simple and basic features which allows users to book services and share vendors’ links to create more awareness. By doing so, we hope to give service vendors a quick solution to gain exposure for their businesses during these times of uncertainties. We aim to also offer a sense of hope and a source of income to look forward to after the MCO. If you are a service vendor whose business has been affected tremendously during the COVID-19, we would like to help you list your services on our platform.
