Maintaining a pest-free environment in highly regulated industries such as plastic manufacturing isnโt just about cleanlinessโitโs about protecting product quality, meeting hygiene requirements, and applying the core principle of Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Prevention First, Chemical Last.
Innopest recently conducted a Pest Awareness Training session for the team at Fragstar, delivered by our Field Biologists, Manmit Singh and Syazwani.
The session focused on empowering factory personnel with the knowledge to identify early warning signs and take action before pest activity reaches critical production areas.
๐ What did the training cover?
โ
Targeted Pest Identification
Helping the team recognize common pests and understand the risks they can pose in manufacturing and warehouse environments.
โ
Understanding Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Shifting the mindset from relying primarily on chemical treatment towards a holistic approach combining prevention, exclusion, sanitation, monitoring and targeted treatment when necessary.
โ
Recognizing Monitoring Devices
Educating staff on the purpose of monitoring devices such as TRBS, TRGS and FILT, and how these tools contribute to early detection and effective pest monitoring.
โ
Following Reporting Procedures
Training staff to recognize early signs of pest activity and understand who to report to, what information to provide, and why timely reporting matters.
โ
Good Housekeeping & Preventive Practices
Effective pest management is a shared responsibility. A well-trained manufacturing team can help identify risks early, maintain good housekeeping standards, and prevent conditions that attract or support pest activity.
๐ก REMEMBER:
Prevention is always more cost-effective than a cure.
A strong pest management programme starts with everyone playing their part:
PREVENT ๐ MONITOR ๐ REPORT ๐ RESPOND
At Innopest, we believe that effective pest management begins with empowering people with the right knowledge.
