We are privileged to have been onboarded in a Water Utility Regional Partnership programme for the improvement of Customer Services implemented by JICA.

This is a peer-to-peer exchange programme that brings together four water companies in Africa including KIWASCO, Lilongwe Water Board (Malawi), City of Cape Town (South Africa), and Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company (Zambia) to share experiences and learn from one another in enhancing service delivery.

As part of the programme's commencement, the JICA team paid a courtesy call to KIWASCO Managing Director to provide a brief on the initiative, highlighting its objectives, key activities, and expected outcomes. They later met the implementation team to further discuss the operations of the company.

The one-year programme aims to foster the exchange of diverse ideas and best practices among the participating utilities, with the goal of improving customer service, strengthening operational performance, and enhancing service delivery to customers across the region.

Key areas to be covered in this programme are meter & billing management, revenue collection, illegal activities, customer awareness and stakeholder engagement, tariff setting and pro-poor policy.

We held a sensitization forum at Kosawo Hall, bringing together the Water Kiosk Vendors and Delegated Management Model (DMM) operators.

The purpose of the meeting was to explain and discuss the newly approved 2026/2027–2029/2030 Water Tariff.

During the session, we discussed the key aspects of the new tariff, including the tariff breakdown and how it applies to each group represented. We also took time to explain some of the important clauses to help everyone better understand the new rates.

In addition, we addressed service-related issues, including our shared responsibility to reduce water loss, improve the reliability of water supply, adopt decent sanitation solutions, among other topics.

These engagement forums are important in ensuring our grassroot customers are well informed about the newly approved tariff.

Tomorrow, 17th July 2026, we will continue the sensitization at Nawa Grounds from 9:00 a.m. We invite residents of Usoma & the surrounding areas to attend.
