KACWASCO joined key stakeholders yesterday 7th May 2026 at the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency headquarters during a consultative meeting on the revival of the Maraba Sewer Project.
The activity was spearheaded by the KACWASCO B.O.D through the Chair of the Corporate Legal Board Committee Mr. Patrick Chungani and brought together the KACWASCO management team, LVNWWDA Dr. Ibrahim Oluoch, NEMA County Director Johana R.O. Ouma, Public Health officials, representatives of the area MP Hon. Daniel Kadenge and Nehemiah Mucevah, area MCA Hon. Moses Musundi, local administration among other stakeholders.
The KACWASCO management team led by Ag. Managing Director CPA Erick Wabuyabo was present during the meeting which discussed urgent interventions towards addressing the sanitation challenges affecting Maraba and its environs. Stakeholders emphasized the need to fast-track the project due to the growing public health, environmental, and security concerns linked to the absence of a functional sewer system.
Speaking during the meeting, Kakamega County Chief Officer for Water Dr. Miriam Were called for enhanced community sensitization, stakeholder engagement, and interim sanitation measures as plans for the sewer project continue.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment towards collaboration and timely implementation of the project as a long-term solution to sanitation and environmental challenges facing the area.
