On this , we celebrated our partnership with Moi University Eldoret Kenya - Foundation of Knowledge in the Eldoret-Iten Water Fund (EIWF). Led by Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, our collaboration proves that conservation succeeds when academic research meets community-led action.

Our Collective Impact Since 2023

By bridging the gap between science and implementation, we have achieved remarkable results:

Land Management:74,552 hectares (4x our goal).
Forest Restoration:51,625 hectares.
Riparian Protection: 380.4 km conserved.
Community Support:167,205 lives improved and 5,000 households empowered via climate-smart farming.
Climate Action: 6.4 million MT of carbon sequestered.

With 7 new county policies and 19 active River Gauging Stations, we are securing a sustainable water future for the region. Thank you to our dedicated partners The Nature Conservancy in Africa, Water Funds for Africa and communities for making this progress possible.

Today, on Menstrual Hygiene Day , we partnered with Nova Pioneer Kenya- CBE & International eldoret and Fresh Life to host an impactful mentorship and health session dedicated to breaking the stigma and empowering our youth at Langas Primary school.

Menstrual hygiene is a basic right, essential for the health, dignity, and confidence of girls. Today, we took action to ensure no girl misses school or feels compromised because of a natural cycle.

What we did:

We led an interactive session teaching the girls about menstrual health, how to wear sanitary pads correctly, and the importance of proper, hygienic disposal.

Girl Child Support: To ensure they stay clean, confident, and in school, we distributed essential hygiene kits containing sanitary pads, tissues, and panties.

Boy Child Inclusion: Because menstrual hygiene management involves everyone, we engaged the boys to help end teasing and stigma.

The sheer joy and big smiles on the pupils' faces made the day incredibly rewarding. By equipping both girls and boys, we are creating a more supportive, understanding, and safe learning environment.

A huge thank you to our partners. Let's keep breaking the silence!

After months of engagement, consultation, and constructive dialogue, we are delighted o announce the positive outcome of the high-level meeting between ELDOWAS, Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, and key stakeholders led by Sixty-Four Residents Association on the water tariff discussions.

A consensus has been reached—prioritising both the affordability of water services for residents and the long-term sustainability of service delivery.

Key resolutions include:
✔️ A reduction in the price to ease the burden on the majority of households
✔️ Withdrawal of pending legal matters to pave the way for collaborative progress
✔️ A commitment to develop a fair, transparent, and inclusive tariff structure

As ELDOWAS, we remain committed to enhancing service delivery, reducing water losses, and strengthening infrastructure to ensure reliable and safe water for all.

We thank all stakeholders and residents for their patience, cooperation, and commitment to dialogue.

Acting Locally for Global Impact | Biodiversity Day 2026

Today we participated in the commemoration of Biodiversity Day, marked by the official launch of the Cherangani Hills Ecosystem Restoration Program (CHERISH)—a transformative initiative aimed at restoring one of Kenya’s critical water towers while improving community livelihoods.

With a projected investment of KES 15 billion, the CHERISH programme brings together government, private sector, and development partners to drive sustainable ecosystem restoration, including the rehabilitation of the Embobut Forest and other degraded landscapes.

The Chief Guest, Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, emphasized the urgent need for forest restoration as a foundation for water security, climate resilience, and sustainable development.

Spanning across Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, and Uasin Gishu counties, the programme reinforces the direct link between healthy ecosystems and reliable water services—a connection that remains central to ELDOWAS’ mandate.

As a water service provider, we recognize that protecting upstream ecosystems like the Cherangani Hills is essential to securing downstream water supply for our communities.

We remain committed to supporting multi-stakeholder partnerships that advance sustainability, resilience, and inclusive growth.

We had a highly productive engagement with the leadership and members of Sergoit community water project to map out a sustainable future for local water services.

With 817 registered members, our immediate focus is on closing the gap between our active connections and those who are disconnected. We are deeply encouraged by the community’s commitment to foot their bills promptly to keep the water flowing reliably for everyone.

Transformative infrastructure upgrades are on the horizon! Through the power of co-investment with the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet, we are planning to renovate 4.8 km of our pipeline network to reduce water losses and improve pressure.

In attendance were Hon. Cheptiony, Mr Fredrick Kosgei our General Manager of Commercial Services, Father Cleophas, local school representatives, and community members. Together, we are building a more water-secure community.

Aquaya gathered 8 water operators from Kipkabus, Moi's Bridge, Sosiani, and Turbo under Uasin Gishu Rural Water and Sanitation Company (URWASCO) for a quarterly debrief in Kenya through the Water Quality Assurance Fund program.

The session provided hands-on training in chlorine testing with color comparators, led by a lab technician from Eldoret Water and Sanitation Co. Ltd.

Two and a half years into the program, these quarterly sessions are how we make sure the knowledge sticks.
