Dengue will strike us badly in two weeks. Do your part to stay safe.

1. Clean up stagnant bits of water in and around the home. Indoor flower pots, indoor water filters, fridges, toilets may be leaking tiny bits of water that stagnate and are ideal for breeding dengue mosquitoes.
2. Ensure gutters are not stagnant and there are no containers even small as yoghurt cups outside your home gathering water. Some outdoor plants too have receptacles to gather water.
3. Install fly screens on windows and doors.
4. Chemical fogging is of no use. If you must use chemicals because of large numbers of mosquitoes, then do a coarse barrier spray or misting, around the house by getting a professional pest control company to do it. Ask them to apply a larvicide to stagnant water that cannot be removed. 5. Remember the dengue mosquito that could bite you is the one from your own home, office, school and therefore it is important to give your own premises a good clean out of stagnant water, even little bits and eliminate any potential receptacles of water for the mosquitoes to breed.
