Mission Nirmal Bangla Dakshin Mission March, 2017! Towards a dignified South 24 Parganas District through the implementation of a comprehensive ODF+ (Open Defecation+) strategy.

The South 24 Parganas is a district of West Bengal State, headquartered in Alipore. It is the largest district of West Bengal State by area and second largest by population. The district has a population of 8,153,176, has 78.57 per cent literacy rate and has sex ratio of 937. The district will follow Nadia, North 24 Paraganas and Hoogly and be declared Open Defecation Free district on 31st March 2

The sanitation campaign “Mission Nirmal Bangla” and its unprecedented success has been based on SHACS (Sanitation & Hygiene Advocacy & Communication Strategy) which was jointly developed by the WB State Government and UNICEF. A lot of celebration activities have been planned by the South 24 Parganas district administration to celebrate this grand achievement.
