Declare New Things

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you. (Isaiah 42:9)

TODAY'S WORD:

Are you ready to see something new in your life? The question is what have you been declaring? Are you declaring what you see in your circumstances? Are you declaring your worries and frustrations to others, or are you declaring God’s goodness and promises over your life?

Scripture tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. That means we set our future according to what we choose to say. If you need to see change in your circumstances, then start by changing your words. Don’t use your words to describe your situation; use your words to change your situation. Start declaring new things in order to start seeing new things! Declare blessing, declare peace, declare wholeness—declare His Word and watch Him shape your future and lead you into the wonderful new things He has prepared for you!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father in heaven, today I turn my thoughts, heart and focus toward You. Help me, by Your Spirit, to keep the right perspective as I go about my day. Help me to declare new things so I can take hold of all that You have prepared for me! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES
*SUNDAY 29 APRIL 2018*

*"BE FULL OF THE SPIRIT ALWAYS"*
××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
*And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).*
××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
The early Church understood the importance of being continually filled with the Spirit; it was the standard. They were Holy Ghost-conscious; they were “God-inside” minded. After the experience they had in Acts 2:4, the Bible says, *“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost…”* (Acts 4:31). Notice how many were said to be filled with the Holy Ghost: all the brethren!

What a Church we would have when, on a service day, everyone in the congregation is full of the Holy Ghost! That ought to be the norm; that’s God’s dream for every one of us. In Acts 6:5, the Bible describes Stephen as a man full of faith, and of the Holy Ghost. Acts 11:24, referring to Barnabas, says the same thing.

No one can carry out ministry or do God’s work without being filled with the Holy Ghost. It accounts for the reason many are struggling and frustrated; they’re on the verge of giving up on their assignments in ministry. If only they’ll act on the Word, things will change.

Peter, Stephen, and Barnabas were all described as men *“full of the Holy Ghost”*; let that be said of you. Yes, you have the Holy Ghost, but the Bible says to be full of Him. Being full of the Spirit isn’t something the Lord needs to do for you; it’s absolutely your responsibility, and the scriptures show how to make it happen (read Ephesians 5:18-21). Verse eighteen in the Amplified Classic says, *“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.”* Notice the word, “ever”; meaning it isn’t a one-off experience.

All your waking moments, you’re to be full of the Spirit, and when that happens, your life will be one of unstoppable success and ever-increasing glory. It doesn’t matter what the barrier is, when you get to it, it’ll fall! If it doesn’t fall, you push it down. If you push it and it doesn’t fall, you walk right through it! There’s no such thing as impossibility or limitations when you’re full of the Holy Ghost; you’re absolutely invincible! Glory to God!

*CONFESSION*

_*I’m continually filled with the Spirit, in wisdom, sound judgement, knowledge, glory and dominion! No barrier can stand in my path. There’re no impossibilities or limitations to me; I’m full of might and power by the Spirit of the Lord, for works of righteousness. Blessed be God!*_

*HE RELATES WITH YOUR SPIRIT*

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

God relates with your spirit, not your mind or physical body. When He talks to you, He talks to your spirit. Your spirit knows exactly when God talks and what He’s saying, because your spirit knows God. His nature is in your spirit, and that’s where His light is as well: “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly” (Proverbs 20:27).

Your spirit was created to know God’s voice. God may not speak English, French, Portuguese, or any other earthly language when He talks to you, but you’ll hear Him in your spirit in whatever language you understand. He’s a master communicator. If you’ve never heard Him, chances are, you’ve not been listening from your spirit or you haven’t trained yourself to respond to Him.

God and His Word are one, and He speaks to you from His Word. Everything He says is always consistent with His Word. Therefore, the more you study His Word, the more you familiarize yourself with His voice, and are able to respond to Him when He speaks to you.

Now, since God relates with your spirit, your response to Him and to circumstances must also be from your spirit, for faith is the response of the human spirit to the Word of God. You must see yourself from the perspective of God’s Word, and respond to circumstances, interpret and deal with issues according to the Word.

*PRAYER*

Dear Father, I thank you for the ability to hear and recognize your voice. I walk in the spirit, and not in the flesh. My spirit is trained and energized by your Word to hear and discern your voice as you lead me in glory, and righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

*COLD OLD BELIEVER...!*

"Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends" (Lk 15:29).

This elder son could be a type of the modern 'cold old believer'. He has a seniority of many years to boast about - "Lo, these many years do I serve thee." He is full of himself - wrapped up in himself. Although his loving father 'entreated him' to come in and join the joyful fellowship, he argues with him. "...neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment," he says. How can anyone believe this arrogant statement of the elder son, seeing he refused to obey even the entreaties of his caring father!Often, those who speak highly of themselves are as empty as this 'Pharisee'. Look at the complaint he makes (cold believers are complainers too!) to his father - "Thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends."

Dear reader, if you cannot enjoy the fellowship of the saints, it means you have friendship and merriment elsewhere. If you long for 'a kid' (worldly pleasures), you will never enjoy the fatted calf, music and dancing (great spiritual blessings) in the Father's house, the Church.

Maybe the elder son finally went inside - as the music and the dancing were about to end and when the feast of the fatted calf was almost over and had only leftovers. Could this be the picture of the 'Sunday Christian', who finally (towards the end of the singing session) reaches the back seat?

*HOW CAN WE RECEIVE JESUS JOYFULLY?*

While Zacchaeus was clinging to the sycomore tree, Jesus came down the road, surrounded by a great multitude. The Lord came close to the place where Zacchaeus was. Then He looked up and saw Zacchaeus and said to him: “Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house” (Lk 19:5). What a loving gesture!

The beautiful thing we find here is that it was not Zacchaeus who drew near to Jesus, but Jesus Who came near to him. It was not Zacchaeus who saw Jesus first, but it was Jesus Himself Who saw Zacchaeus first. It was not Zacchaeus who spoke to Jesus first, but it was Jesus who first spoke to Zacchaeus. Dear child of God, is this not true of our spiritual life also? Before we went to Jesus, He came near us. Before we saw Him, He saw us and called us by our name, as Isaiah says: “I have even called thee by thy name.”

Zacchaeus’ joy knew no bounds! He had only wanted to see Jesus, but Jesus saw him, called him by his name and conferred upon him the privilege of having Him as a guest in his house. Truly, our God is able to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph.3:20).

The first thing Jesus told Zacchaeus was, “Make haste and come down!” Zacchaeus was a rich and important man, and also a chief among the publicans, which means he held a very high office. Jesus wanted him to come down from the pride of his position and possessions. This is the first thing a sinner has to do, the moment the Lord meets him.

_“Zacchaeus made haste and came down and received Him joyfully” (Lk 19:6). Dear child of God, if you have not yet received Jesus joyfully, it is because you have not yet come down from your pride. Will you make haste and come down today, and receive Him joyfully?_

Accept God's Plan

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

TODAY'S WORD:

No matter what may be happening today, God has good things in store for your future! It may not be easy to see now, but God has already lined up a new beginning, new friendships and new opportunities for you.

Maybe you’ve experienced some setbacks, but don’t make the mistake of expecting the same for your future. Instead, accept God’s good plan for your life by declaring His truth. As believers, our attitude should be, “Even though the economy is down, I’m not worried. I know God is going before me, and He has promised He will make rivers in the desert.” Or, “The medical report may not look good, but I have another report that says God is restoring health unto me. I believe God has already released healing, health and victory in my future.” Or, you may have a child who is not on the right course. In the natural, it seems impossible. But our report should be, “I know God can do the impossible!”

Today, be encouraged and don’t give up on your tomorrows. Accept the good plan God has for you—a plan filled with hope, purpose, blessing and increase in every area of your life!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father, thank You for giving me hope and a future. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for choosing me. Thank You for delighting in me. I invite You to renew my heart and mind to the good plans You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen."

*WHY WERE YOU 'CAUGHT'?*

"Immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him (Peter)" (Matt 14:31).

Peter can now sing along with the Psalmist: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear... though the waters thereof roar and be troubled" (Psa 46:1-3).

Here the wonderful love of Jesus is manifested. It was not Peter who stretched forth his hands, but Jesus. It was not Peter who caught Jesus, but Jesus Who caught Peter. Dear child of God, this is exactly what Jesus has done for us. When we were drowning in the sea of sin, sickness and sufferings, Jesus approached us and stretched out His hands, and caught us.'

After Jesus caught Peter, both of them started walking on the water - no more danger of drowning and no more fear ! First Peter tried walking alone on the water and failed. Without the helping hand of Jesus holding us, we can never live above our trials and troubles. Now, with Jesus holding his hands, Peter is able to walk on the water triumphantly. What was the secret that kept Peter above the waters? The promise, "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deut 33:27).

*REIGNING PURITY...:*

God's holiness is connected with God's reigning or ruling. It is very interesting to note that a number of psalms which start with "The Lord reigneth", end with 'holiness.' What we learn from this is that, God wants holiness to rule in our lives so that He may reign or rule over us. The holy God may not be able to rule over those who do not love His holiness.

Rulers or leaders should be those in whom the Lord reigns in holiness. Leaders in the church who do not love holiness do not have the moral or spiritual right to rule over others. He that hath no rule over his spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls. A city whose wall is broken down is always vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy.

Dear child of God, are you like a city without walls? The devil and his agents are playing havoc in your life then. Perhaps the reason for some of your major problems is that, you have not let the Lord or His holiness rule over you.

Let the government of your life be "upon His shoulder"; then, of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end". In other words, as God rules in your life with His holiness, He will rule over all the powers of darkness in your life, bringing triumph in all your trials. Let purity crown your spiritual life.
