Are you a local business owner that understands the importance of being active on social media but can’t find the time to do it?

If this sounds like you, our upcoming event on Thursday November 5th at Ludgate “AI for Marketing & Social Media: A practical workshop for small business” is here to help!

🔹What we'll cover
- Giving AI proper context about your business, so what it writes is specific and true rather than bland and generic
- Writing posts, captions and email copy that still sound like you
- Creating images for your social posts
- Turning one good idea into a week of content across the platforms you actually use
- The safeguards: where AI gets things wrong and what to check before you hit publish
- The general principles, so you can keep going long after the workshop ends

🔹Who it's for
Owners and managers of West Cork businesses: shops, cafés, trades, tourism, sole traders and the one person in a small team who ends up doing all the social media. No AI experience assumed. Curiosity is enough.

Limited spaces available and you can get your free ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/ai-for-marketing-social-media-a-practical-workshop-for-small-business-tickets-2001594594313?aff=oddtdtcreator

Most small businesses know AI could help with their marketing. Very few have had someone sit down and show them how. That's what our upcoming event “AI for Marketing & Social Media” is for!

Join us at Ludgate Hub on Thursday 5th November from 10am for a practical two-hour workshop on using AI for your marketing and social media, run by Patrick Kiely of Flux Learning.

There's no coding and no jargon. This is about the everyday marketing jobs that eat your week: thinking up content, writing the post, adapting it for three different platforms, sounding like yourself, and staying visible when you're already doing five other jobs in the business.

You won't leave with a list of tools to look into some other time. You'll leave with one thing that works, set up on your own laptop, with your own business in it.

Spaces are limited to 25 only, secure your free place today: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/ai-for-marketing-social-media-a-practical-workshop-for-small-business-tickets-2001594594313?aff=oddtdtcreator

Behind The Mural - “A River Through Time” 🎨

Designed by Megan Clancy | Created by the Urban Arts Collective (2026)

A River Through Time is a celebration of Skibbereen’s relationship with the River Ilen and the generations of people whose lives were shaped along its banks.

Drawing on the memories of lifelong local resident Tony Kelly, alongside historical research into the town’s quays, businesses and communities, the mural invites visitors to travel through the landscape and history of one of Skibbereen’s oldest quarters.

Beginning where the River Ilen opens into Baltimore Harbour, the artwork follows the water upstream, weaving together references to navigation, fishing, wildlife and trade. Historic boats, marshland birds, otters and native plants reflect the river’s rich ecology, while grain sacks, distillery barrels and horse-drawn carts acknowledge the industries that once made the quays the commercial heart of the town.

Meet The Artists behind Skibbereen’s Painted Past 🎨

🖌️ Martin O’Donoghue

Martin is a Cork-based ludic artist, from the Italian ludico, “to play”, whose practice blends public art, participatory performance, design, and dance.

Trained in plant biology and later in photography and digital media, he spent a decade running a design studio in Cork City before moving into arts management in Cork Opera House. A European project on play as a tool for social change, redirected his path: post-Covid, he committed to “playing” as a methodology, working with ideas, companies, communities, and places.

His projects often connect Ireland to other cultures linking currach boat traditions with northern Spain, or weaving dance into seasonal rituals, inviting audiences to participate rather than simply observe. He has presented work at festivals across the island of Ireland.
