WHAT IS WET BLASTING?
Similarly to dry blasting, wet blasting uses an abrasive media and compressed air. However, unlike the dry blast process, the wet blast process uses a third element – liquid. We have found that the use of a liquid undoubtedly enhances the level of finish. Other advantages of the wet blast process are: degreasing the work piece, producing no dust, and giving a smoother, more consistent finish.
We have found that lubrication of the abrasive particles in a stream of water produces a uniform flow across the surface. This advantageously causes less damage to the work piece, and the abrasive action is consistent across the whole surface. You have a much greater level of control over the surface finish as a result.
The water and media mixture is stored within the cabinet’s sump. This mixture then travels to the blast nozzle via a glandless polyurethane pump, submerged in the sump of the cabinet, and driven by an external electric motor. Compressed air joins the media mix at the gun, which accelerates the mixture to provide an effective blast.
