What a brilliant sunny day volunteering with the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust at Ainderby Bottoms, Ainderby Steeple last month 🌱

A fantastic team effort saw 28 volunteers get stuck in to plant 1,000 native broadleaf trees in just one day! This adds to an incredible 10,000 trees planted over the last 3 years, helping to create 10 hectares of new woodland habitat, all linked by new hedgerows 🌳

It’s not just great for the environment – it’s great for wellbeing too. Rachel, one of our team shared:
“As someone who spends all day in an office I was nervous about being outside all day. However, I was pleasantly surprised! It was great being out in the fresh air doing physical work and knowing that I was part of something that will be around for generations to come.”

Where does waste actually go?

When something goes down the drain or gets taken away, it’s easy to think it just disappears.

In reality, waste goes on a journey and where it ends up really matters. Managed poorly, it can harm the environment. Managed properly, it can be turned into something useful.

Take food and liquid waste. When handled the right way, it can go through Anaerobic Digestion, producing renewable energy and fertiliser instead of ending up in landfill.

It’s a good reminder that waste isn’t just about getting rid of something, it’s about what happens next.

A fantastic evening out for the Whitkirk team at Cooper King Distillery Sutton on the Forest 🍸

We had the pleasure of touring the distillery, learning all about how the brand was founded and has grown over the years under the guidance of founders Chris and Abbie. A real insight into their passion, craftsmanship and innovation.

We love to support local businesses, and this was a perfect example of the brilliant producers right on our doorstep.

The visit was perfectly rounded off with an enjoyable gin and whisky tasting, brilliantly hosted by Mark from Cooper King – thank you for a great experience! 🥃
