I recently restored this tiled hallway in , unusually the matt well was also tiled, which is quite rare, as they're usually plain cement with a Matt on top to cover.
The floor had a couple of large cracks by the front door entrance, these were restored, then the floor low moisture cleaned, and sealed to allow the colours to flourish as the photos show 👀

hallway restoration in this particular floor had moved in doorway areas, which had left tiles loose and sticking out proud and the sub-floor had moved to create a ledge effect. Movement over time is very common with these floors. I advised the customer that due to the severity of the movement it could be improved but would have a sloped finish to try to bring the floor all together. They were happy with that. The restoration went really well as you can see from the photos, and they were very happy with the results. Cleaned & sealed to finish.

Marble restoration on a previous bodge job and insurance claim.

A customer received a large parcel from a furniture company, who we can't name due to legal reasons (but will call IKEA for now) via a third party courier. It scratched the marble so they thought. What actually happened is it scratched the seal that a floor cleaning company had previously applied to give it a sheen look 🙈 This is not the correct way to maintain marble, it needs to be cleaned and polished up with low to very fine grit diamond pads which creates a natural polished look, then sealed with an impregnating seal. After removing the original seal the floor was restored. The customer was delighted. Please take a look at the photos 💎 👀

Quarry/Minton tiled hallway restored

It would be great to be able to restore old floors to their original state; unfortunately, that's pretty much impossible with 120-plus-year-old tiles. What you can do, though, is try to restore them to their realistic best. You can't beat a bit of character anyway 👌. These quarry tiles (and a bit of Minton) in Sutton Coldfield had been hidden away under carpet for some years; moisture and efflorescence had caused some issues. Luckily, I had a few yellow quarry tiles to do the repairs, as they're very hard to get hold of these days. Repaired, cleaned, and sealed 🫡.
