And now the warmer weather is almost here I'll be machine polishing once again.

I've been asked why I don't machine polish in the winter.

Easy.

When Valeting in the winter months you're moving to keep warm.
When you're polishing you're not moving, well not much, but you're just getting colder and colder.

Not for me I'm afraid.

Anyway after completing my two day Zvizzer UK course with UK Detailing Academy and "Geeky" Steven Marmy Mcmahon, back in October I've stocked up on some of their premier pads and compounds.

No.

I haven't bought the entirety of their range, but what I have bought should see me through for a while.

And already I've got machine polishing clients booked in for the end of April and into May.

Another training day with UK Detailing Academy
This time we concentrated on Protection and Coatings.

Rich and Ian, who are the trainers, really pushed us all day on the chemistry, physics ,technical aspects of coating, its history, application, tools, methods, health and safety and methodology.
When to ceramic coat and when not to ceramic coat, maintenance, product suppliers choices and the list went on and on.
Once again, at times it felt like being back at school in a chemistry lesson.
But this time I was fascinated by the subject.
The questions never stopped coming and comprehensive responses from both Rich and Ian were broken down into bite sized chunks and clear explanations regarding the whole process were explained.
We were given practical's on preperation and application.
We were also given an opportunity to deal with mistakes and how to correct them.

Once more an amazing day and I was absolutely buzzing at the end of the course all the way home.

BRACE YOURSELVES.........................

This is the second Ford Transit van that I was asked to valet by the same landscaping company.
"Might be a bit muckier than the last Transit" the owner said.
He wasn't joking.

I do love a challenge.

All the tools came out for this one.
I lost track of how long it took on the cab area alone.
It was a long day and a lot of hard work.

A valued regular client recently treated himself to a comprehensive maintenance service, with a particular focus on his engine bay, having had it deep cleaned just last year.
Upon inspection, the engine bay was slightly soiled but not excessively dirty.
As a precautionary measure, I always avoid using high-pressure water on engine bays due to the presence of sensitive electrics and sensors.
To ensure a safe and thorough clean, I employed a meticulous method using compressed air combined with a fine mist of cleaning solution, which I immediately blew off, preserving the integrity of all components.

The client also requested that his gloss black alloy wheels be machine polished and ceramic coated.
Firstly though I carried out a careful contact wash, and applied a ceramic sealant to the vehicle’s bodywork for enhanced protection.

The wheels were then removed and machine polished to restore their high-gloss finish, followed by a detailed cleaning of the wheel arches.
The results were remarkable, transforming the vehicle with a sharp, crisp, and bright finish.
The car now exudes a new level of brilliance, looking cleaner and more refined than ever before.

I recently had the privilege of being awarded a contract by Wokingham Borough Council to clean one of their electric vans. The vehicle, despite being 10 years old, had fallen into a rather neglected state and was initially in need of significant attention. The Council had been considering replacing the van, but after an assessment of its condition, I was able to determine that a thorough professional clean would breathe new life into it.
The process took a considerable amount of time due to the heavy build-up of algae and general wear, particularly on the interior, which required extensive refreshing. Using the Tornador and a variety of specialised chemicals, the interior was tackled first , including the carpets, and I also tackled the load area to restore its functionality and appearance.
The exterior was subjected to a thorough decontamination, ridding all the algae and detritus from every nook and cranny and subjected to the chemical removal of bonded contaminants , given a safe contact wash and finally a ceramic sealant was applied to offer a small measure of protection to the whole of the exterior.
She now looks so much cleaner, crisper and sharper than she did at the start of the day.

This particular van plays a key role in promoting sustainable transport options across the borough, including electric vehicles and bicycles, so it was important to ensure that the vehicle reflected the values of the programme.
I'm pleased to report that the transformation was remarkable, and the electric van now looks as good as new.
It was a rewarding project, and I’m grateful to have been able to assist Wokingham Borough Council with this vehicle. Thank you for the opportunity.

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a fantastic training day at the UK Detailing Academy, which was both engaging and insightful.
The session which was all about dry ice blasting was particularly interesting, a fresh approach to cleaning delicate surfaces, engine bays and vehicle underbodies plus a thousand and one other uses.
It was a great opportunity to learn from some highly skilled professionals and network with others in the industry.
A thoroughly enjoyable, fascinating and valuable day!"😀

This is my dad’s 1967 Jaguar Mark II.
In 1975 it was my job—at the grand old age of 11 or 12—to look after it, keep it clean, and make sure the inside stayed spotless, all while juggling my car washing gig on a local estate.
I think it was the classic Jaguar Mark II that sparked my obsession with keeping cars looking pristine—after all, what better way to learn the ropes than on a beauty like that?
Fast forward to when I wrapped up my policing career, and I figured, why not turn my childhood obsession into a full-time, professional gig now?

A brand‑new Porsche Macan this time, and she’s now glossier than a glossier thing thanks to a full 5‑year G‑Techniq ceramic coating provided by Porsche.
The owner previously had the purple BMW Z4 I worked on, and this Macan is now joining the family fleet on a regular monthly maintenance plan.
Safe to say, it’s going to stay looking absolutely immaculate.

A 2016 BMW 216d this time — a tidy little thing that really comes up nicely once you give it the attention it deserves.
It hadn’t been properly cleaned in quite some time, and it was really starting to show.
This one needed a thorough, methodical approach to bring it back to life.
I started on the 7 seater interior first, steam cleaning and using compressed air to get into all the tight areas of the interior the eye usually misses.
And after all that onto a full decontamination wash, using fallout remover to break down the embedded grime and tar removal followed by a contact wash using multiple wash mitts and detailing brushes.
Once the surfaces were properly prepped, the bodywork was then treated to a fresh ceramic sealant for long‑lasting protection and a deep, glossy finish.
And then ,just as soon as I had dried the whole car, it poured down with rain.
The transformation was genuinely impressive though — it’s amazing what the right processes can do.
I think you’ll agree it looks like a completely different car now.
I did have to dodge the rain more than once with this one and had to return a couple of times.
Remember all that rain?
When your underwear and valeting equipment is getting soaked its time to call it a day, retreat and go back when its dry.😂😂🤣😂
