Thought I’d share a (funny) story.
Once upon a time, I had the sweetest little souls for pets. Their names were Suri and Lunar (which meant sun and moon).
They were a spur of the moment decision that I made when my mum went on holiday without me (I was old enough to be left alone and adopt animals 😂) and I thought, their faces screamed at me to adopt them. I adopted them from SSPCA in Hamilton. I had never had ferrets before, everything but mind you. But still, I thought they were mine.
When I adopted them they were placed into a cardboard box with handles for you to take home. And as I was waiting for my ride home, I could hear scratching and nibbling. Before I knew it, there was a little head poking itself out. I remember reacting and placing my hand over it and shouting to my friend going “they are going to escape! I had no idea how good ferrets were at escaping! I had to go back in and purchase a plastic carrier in order for them to come home 😂
I went home to do a lot of research and when my mum came home she was not pleased… for about a week till they started to grow on her 😂
Suri and Lunar were what I’d call roasters. They loved to terrorise your feet, they actually used to love to run at my mum and get her feet then make chuckling noises 😂! They loved to clamber and snuggle but they loved nothing more than creating chaos. It was like having two toddlers. I think they were someone’s pets before I got them because they were very people oriented and would seek out company of people. If I was home, they were generally out! Their favourite things were anything that crinkled. It sent them into ferret zoomies 😂 I had them for many years and they provided endless company, chaotic moments and I have loads of funny stories. I had ferrets after them but nothing compared to them.
As an adult I look back and think it was reckless to adopt animals that I had no idea about really and I’d always recommend now to research an animal, their needs and if they can fit into your life but equally, it was the best thing I ever did. I still miss them all these years later!
This is me saying, if you think I’d be scared of any animals, I’ve been there, done that and got the t shirt. So long as you aren’t throwing a tarantula at me, I’m all good 😂
Not just for cleaning, caring for animals too is part of what makes maid to walk special 💜
