We had a great week providing Bird control services at The Open.

With high temperatures all week and hundreds of thousands of spectators the birds were amazing keeping gulls away.

We used falcons which flew high over the entire course and kept pest birds away.
Harris Hawks were flown around the spectator villages to stop gulls and other pest birds diving down and stealing food .

Now we look forward to the AIG Women’s Open aRoyal Lytham St Annes Golf Club.

I have a serious question. How many people in the UK have fumigated a building so far this year?
Or how many are planning on Fumigating a building up until the end of the year?
As we know Fumigation is a very specialist area and I’m interested to know out of the UK population of 70 million people how many are actually undertaking this specialist role.
I would be highly surprised if this is in double figures but please prove me wrong.
I’ll add 6 to the list.

And that’s a wrap!
Mill fumigation completed with great success.
Achieved a CT in excess of what was required with temperatures consistently over 20 degrees (no heaters required) and a half loss time of 2hrs above what was predicted.
Lots of dead insects through out and one happy client.
Some lucky Pest controller has got an easy job for the foreseeable !

Who else in the UK is fumigating a mill this week, month, year?

But seriously I was first involved in fumigating this building as a trainee in 1997. I then fumigated it 3 more times with Methyl Bromide upto 2006 when I was the operator in charge.
Now 20 years later I’m back as a business owner treating it with Profume.
It’s been a good relationship, I’ve worked with some great characters and made some great memories.
Being away on Father’s Day is not perfect but it sure beats being away on Christmas Day which I’ve had to do in the past.
And to top it off the weather is perfect for a fumigation this weekend.

As a business owner you are constantly busy and rarely get time to sit back and look how far the business has come.
Sometimes it’s little things that trigger that moment of reflection.
I had one of them moments today when I looked inside our Fumigation store.
Seeing the amount of fumigant we have and knowing that this amount is already allocated to jobs and will all be gone in the next few weeks was a real moment of reflection.
We wouldn’t have used this much in 12 months when we started 8 years ago.
