Close Brothers Building & Maintenance are looking for a new member to join our team.

You'll work alongside one of our Contracts Managers, supporting the day-to-day running of our building and maintenance projects. The role includes:

🔹 Booking and scheduling works
🔹 Organising materials and deliveries
🔹 Liaising with site teams and suppliers
🔹 Supporting the Contracts Manager with day-to-day project admin
🔹 Learning how building and maintenance contracts are managed from start to finish

This is a great entry point into the construction industry. Experience isn't essential – we're looking for the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

You'll need to be reliable, hardworking, organised, and able to start work at 8:00am, Monday to Friday.

Question of the Day!

Yesterdays question split the Close Brothers office, with one person saying "it depends on the chocolate". But in the end the fridge won (Helen maintains this is wrong!)

Question of the Day!

Yesterday saw one of our work experience students begin our week of Question of the Day, sparking discussions in the office and creating a bit of fun to our work day.

Yesterday's question was would you rather have fingers for toes or toes for fingers? As you can see there was a clear winner!

Today we ask does chocolate belong in the fridge or the cupboard? I already know at least 2 people in the office who have very strong feelings that it belongs in the cupboard!

✔️ Mansafe / fall protection
✔️ Cat ladders & fixed access
✔️ Eye bolts, anchors, gantries
✔️ BS 7883 inspections & certification
We need someone who can run the work, manage the team, and own H&S compliance.

The Role:
• Manage installation & inspection projects
• Write & approve site RAMS
• Run engineers and subcontractors
• Control permits, audits, and site documentation
• Act as competent person for Work at Height
• Authority to stop unsafe work

You Must Have:
✅ NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safely
✅ Hands-on work at height experience
✅ Knowledge of Mansafe, fall arrest systems, BS 7883
✅ SSSTS or SMSTS
✅ FM or industrial background
✅ Full UK driving licence

We are seeking a detail-oriented Health and Safety Administrator to support our HSQE team across railway and building maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Update and maintain health and safety spreadsheets and databases with accuracy
• Issue health and safety communications to operatives, site teams, and subcontractors
• Support the fleet team with processing and payment of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)
• Prepare and distribute safety documentation and records
• Maintain compliant filing systems and ensure records are current and accessible
• Provide general administrative support to the HSQE Director and team

Essential Requirements
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data manipulation, spreadsheet management)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Reliable and professional approach to handling sensitive information
