Been a busy few weeks sorting more training out learning new skills.
Even had time to spend with my lad and show him the effects some pests can have.
Loving a day outdoors digging and learning.
Big thank you to: the flat pack-mole catchers for the equipment.

Moles,
They may look cute, but when you pay thousands for nice looking grass these can spoil your day so easily.

Moles can very quickly create havoc in a garden, croft or field, travelling large distances in a day looking for food. Moles are solitary animals and will have a territory of up to 1 acre.

Please get in touch if you need help and advice

Legislation, here are a couple of ACTS, REGULATIONS we have to follow :

BIOCIDAL PRODUCTS REGULATIONS 2012.

Biocidal products are substances used to protect humans, animals, materials or articles from harmful organisms like pests, bacteria or fungi. The biocidal products regulations 2012 is an EU regulation and concerns the approval of biocidal products for markets and the restrictions on how they maybe used.
The regulation aims to standardise and improve the function of the biocidal products market across Europe while ensuring a high level of protection for humans and the environment.
Under the biocidal products regulations the whole label content is a legal requirement and must be followed.

THE PREVENTION OF DAMAGE BY PEST ACT 1949.

This act is primarily used for non-food premises. This Act puts responsibility on the Local Authority to make sure that its district is kept free from rats and mice.
The Local Authority can enforce duties on the owners and occupiers of the land to get rid of rats and mice living on their land.

WHY WE NEED PEST CONTROL.

TRANSMISSION OF DISEASE.
Diseases are normally caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa. Most animals will reflect the environment in which they live and if pathogenic organisms are present in the environment they will be picked up on the surfaces of the pests and internally in the digestive system. Diseases are then spread passively via direct contact with people, food or food contact surfaces, or via droppings and urine. In other cases the pest may be a vector of a disease by carrying the micro-organism and passing it from one host to another by bites or stings.

FEAR AND DISTRESS.
Many pests can induce phobias in people creating a necessity for control.

NUISANCE.
Human health and safety may not be at risk but frequent sightings of less or the continuous noise that they make can create a situation that could necessitate the control of an animal.

ECONOMIC LOSSES.
This can take many forms;
1. Contamination of food or raw materials by bodies, body parts, droppings or urine.
2. Direct consumption of the commodity by the pest.
3. Damage to objects, building and fabrics.
4. Loss of goodwill by affecting the reputation of a business.

I’ve been asked a number of times this week how much do I charge.

I can’t give a price over a text message. That why I say I will do a survey of the property for £30. The survey can take a few hours going through different option plans.

No two jobs are the same so I give a price without seeing what a dealing with.

Pest control is a two way street, it’s not just about me coming out and placing rodenticides down and traps. That will solve solve the some of the problem. But finding the ingress points, customers completing recommendations ie. Removing overgrown vegetation or removing bird feeders.

I will try my best with every customer but like I say no work without a survey and I will deduct the £30 from the treatment price if we go ahead with the work.

Also don’t forget am a sole trader, I don’t carry mass amount of stock. So depending on the circumstances I may have to overnight order supplies to complete the job.

Pest control is dealing with animals that want to survive. It’s not a two minute job to gain control.

About myself,
Back in 2023 I started off in a new career as a pest control technician with a very large pest control company.

Finding myself dropped in to difficult situations where I had to learn very fast.

Fast forward 2 years, I manage infestation that you couldn’t imagine. Passing audits first time.
I go above and beyond to solve problems always on the phone giving advice and guidance.

My strengths are infestation management, I might not be a big name in pest control. But I am the one on the ground that does the work to a very high standard with a proven track record.

I have a number of suppliers that can supply next day. So even if I haven’t got the ideal equipment for your problem. I can source it very quickly and get you on the way to be rodent free.
