Take one Edwardian armchair, add some quality linen floral fabric, and the result is a finished item that will look good in any upstairs or downstairs room.

The linen print has a light olive background, and the armchair is raised on tapered walnut legs, with brass casters that facilitate easy movement of this heavy, solid, item. One of the legs has a repair, but it is as good as new and hardly noticeable.

The armchair is currently for sale at £395, and please message if you'd like to view it or need further details. Samples of the heavy--weave fabric are available -- and, as the pictures show, it comes with a small cushion.

Ever--popular, vintage Parker Knoll pieces make regular appearances at the SPV Upholstery workshop and here's another one, a classic parlour chair, that has just been completed.

The customer picked up a bright and cheerful linen fabric, the print featuring flowers, foliage and birds, and this highly comfortable chair will go on sale at a leading Lincolnshire antiques centre -- please message if you'd like further details.

Four fine pieces of furniture, rich, warm colour choices, and you can't go far wrong. Add a much--loved vintage throw (not pictured) that was given a new plum velvet backing and we're delighted that the clients were well pleased with the finished products.

The job consisted of a large four--seater sofa, a two--seater snuggle chair, an Edwardian armchair, and a vintage armchair -- plus that throw -- but the upholstery work is only half the story. It's the clients' choice of fabrics, colours and finishes that makes it all work together magnificently, as you can see.

The whole ensemble now nestles cosily in a leafy country cottage with customers that were a pleasure to work for.

Footnote: the tablet's camera doesn't show the true colours on the striped fabric -- in there is a nice mix of shades that complement the sofa, snuggle chair, and Edwardian armchair.

What better match for classically--styled Parker Knoll furniture than a traditionally--patterned fabric?

The client, a top antiques dealer who has long been a regular visitor to the SPV Upholstery workshop, knows her market when it comes to the vintage look, and single Parker Knoll armchairs (they are incredibly comfortable) are keenly sought out as room corner fillers or, indeed, as cosy fireside furniture.

The armchair now has that warm, inviting, air about it, and won't hang around for long, we're sure, in the client's antiques centre.

This lovely chaise longue was rescued from the depths of a murky garage, where it had played host over many years to a pretty diverse spectrum of small creatures, and transformed -- thanks to the client choosing a vivacious velvet fabric -- into a funky family focal point.

The heavy--framed chaise was brought to the workshop, and taken right down to the bare bones before springs were re--set and re--tied prior to the wadding and padding being applied.

Then on went the covering fabric, and, as you can see here, the end result really does have that wow factor...

Simplicity in style... this pair of Parker Knoll armchairs, with their elegant wooden arm facings, were brought in for a complete refurbishment by an antique dealer customer.

The insides of the chairs were clad in patterned blue--grey fabric, with the base, rear back, and outer sides faced in a complementing plain blue--grey velvet.

Nothing too fancy, but the end result is a very attractive pair of chairs. They are currently on sale in a North Lincolnshire antiques centre, and if you'd like more details, please message SPV Upholstery.

When clients come to you wanting their bespoke, expensive, lounge furniture re--upholstering, it's truly nice to know they have faith in your work.

And this custom--built pair of Knole settees, together with a very large storage footstool, came with a request for further bespoke treatment -- making--up the base cushions to a whopping nine--inches depth.

Fine velvet fabric formed the base template for this commission, with the two--seater sofa in teal, and the larger three--seater a plum colour. The storage footstool base was also in teal, with the clients choosing a lively jungle--style print for the top.

As you can see from the workshop pictures, the end result is a simply fabulous set of furniture.

And did you know... the Knole, with it's adjustable side arms (held by a decorative braid and distinctive wooden finials), was the first sofa ever made and formed the blueprint for every settee that's been manufactured since it first appeared in 1640. That very first Knole, designed for the King to sit on, is housed at -- yes -- Knole, in Kent.

NOW SOLD

Here's a rarity -- a Greensmith sofa. Why rare? The firm, which had a strong regional reputation in the East Midlands for producing fine upholstered furniture over a quarter--century, is no more... it was absorbed by another quality manufacturer in that neck of the woods, Hunter Knight Upholstery.

So the chance to pick up this high--backed, classically styled sofa was too good to turn down. It had been well loved, and quality stands the test of time so it was well worth restoring.

A striped, heavy--duty linen fabric was chosen for the project, and it will give many years of good service. Please contact SPV Upholstery if you think this ultra--comfortable three--seater is for you.

Yet another armchair that is winging it's way to France... a loyal customer, who has chosen the "Escape to the Chateau" lifestyle, has commissioned several chairs for her highly individual home across the Channel, and this is the latest.

The customer's choice of fabric, florals on a teal background, follows on from previous commissions in creating her signature stand--out look that will also serve to add a welcoming warmth to a French country residence.

Genuine vintage material is getting increasingly harder to get hold of, so it was a nice surprise to find the stuff that this clutch of cushions are made of.

The forty--year--old fabric was tucked away in a box under a Malton charity shop's clothing rail, and there was enough to create these four, 22--inch square piped cushions.

They are now for sale, and can be seen at the SPV workshop, address atop this page.

Thank you for looking!

NOW SOLD

A small Edwardian armchair sitting in the home conservatory had to go... to avoid the attentions of a teething boxer puppy. So up to the workshop it came.

Originally in a light candy stripe material, it was stripped, the sprung base refreshed, and re--covered, as you can see, in leaf--patterned fabric that has a rich brown background. The burnt orange velvet cushion comes with it. The chair is heavy, very comfortable, and if you need a little bit more height, casters can be added.

It's currently for sale in the SPV Upholstery unit's display area, with viewings welcome.

Please do get in touch if you need to know more about size, price, etc.

Almost in the style of a captain's chair, this vintage number is actually a rocking chair.

The base and back cushions were created from a fabric remnant, and it didn't hang around for long when finished -- the day it was put into the display area outside the workshop, a visitor came along and snapped it up.
