🚨 RATS DON’T JUST GET IN — THEY EXPLOIT THE WEAKEST POINTS! ‼️

During a recent inspection, we identified an opening around the washing machine water inlet pipework, providing rats with access directly into the kitchen and beyond.

Further investigation, including the removal of the kitchen sink kickboard, revealed additional concerns beneath the units, with visible structural damage to the void wall and gaps around the drainage pipework.

COMMERCIAL MICE INFESTATION – TARGETED CONTROL ‼️

Following reports from staff of mouse sightings and clear signs of rodent activity throughout this three-storey business premises, Cedar Pest Control carried out a prompt, reactive and targeted control programme. The aim was to quickly reduce mouse activity, limit the risk of contamination and damage, identify potential access points, and help prevent the issue from escalating into a more costly and disruptive problem.

✅ Strategically positioned 8 monitoring and control stations at vulnerable access points and areas where activity had been identified.
✅ Inspected potential entry points, including gaps around pipework, damaged wall cavities, skirting boards and fire doors.

✅ Identified evidence of mice gnawing through bags and business materials, which may also have been used for nesting.

RATS WILL GO TO EXTREME LENGTHS FOR FOOD! ‼️

Did you know rats will go all out to reach a reliable food source? They can exploit surprisingly small weaknesses through your property and will gnaw through materials to gain access.

The area beneath kitchen units can become a major hotspot for rodent activity. In this case, rats have gnawed through the plasterboard to gain access, creating a route into the kitchen area.

One of the biggest giveaways? Smear marks.

Rats repeatedly use the same routes, leaving behind dark, greasy marks as the oils and dirt from their coats rub against walls, floors, pipework and other surfaces. These signs can help us identify the routes being used and trace activity back towards potential entry points.

Serious Mouse Damage & Entry Points‼️

Significant evidence of mouse activity and associated damage was identified during the inspection.

The carpets have been extensively gnawed and damaged, with substantial nesting material and debris present around the perimeter of the room and beneath/along the carpet edges. An exposed Ethernet cable has also been gnawed, demonstrating further damage caused by mouse activity and highlighting the potential for continued damage to the property and furniture if left untreated.

Inspection identified a likely point of entry beneath the internal doorway, with mice gaining access through gaps and voids within the floorboards behind the carpet. The damaged flooring and open voids provide suitable access for rodents to move between concealed areas and the occupied room.

The extent of the damage indicates that this is more than isolated activity, and immediate remedial proofing works will be completed on the second visit.
