Spring cleaning time !!!!
Rejoice! Spring is right around the corner after a long and cold winter. Flowers are just waiting to spring up and little baby animals are being born into this world.
Along with the warmer weather is an expectation that your cleaning responsibilities come out of hibernation and go back to work. Spring is the time for new beginnings, and that includes your home. It’s the perfect time to reorganize your house and rid yourself of clutter.
Treat yourself to a brand-new house by just doing a thorough spring cleaning! It might seem like a daunting task, but the benefits are endless.

Cleaning your entire home looks to be a monumental task, but fear not, this article has you covered. What you have to do is keep yourself organized and make sure you have a comprehensive checklist of the things you want to get done. When you complete a task, check it off, and feel good about the progress you are making!
Spring Cleaning Checklist
Here you will find all the tasks you’ll need to complete a spring cleaning. Lots of other checklists on the internet are just too much to handle, so here at Handy we’ll focus on the big tasks that you probably have neglected in the past year.
1. The Dishwasher
You use this kitchen appliance nearly every day and put really dirty things into it. Of course, it is going to need a deep clean if it is to function properly. First, clean the surface of any obvious stains and then run the dishwasher with a specialty cleanser.
2. The Windows
Wipe down both the inside and the outside with a glass cleaner and a sponge to remove stains and smudges that build up over time. Do this on a cloudy day so that the cleaning fluid does not dry on the windows before you’ve had a chance to clean!
3. The Floors
Wet clean your wood floors (don’t do this more than once every two months as it will ruin the wood) and vacuum your carpet. If your carpet is really dirty, you may have to bring in a professional cleaner for health reasons.
4. The Refrigerator
Both the outside and the inside of your refrigerator needs to be washed. Pull out the interior shelving of the refrigerator and wash with warm soapy water. Wipe down all the surfaces before putting in the shelving again. It’s best to do this right before you need to go get groceries again, so your refrigerator is empty.
5. The Washing Machine
You can’t expect to get clean clothes if your washing machine is smelly itself. Clean the inside with white vinegar and baking soda and then run the machine with hot water and cleaning agents. Wipe it dry after the cycle is done.
6. The Silverware
The silver gets used often, so there will be stains that have built up over time. Use a toothbrush with a paste of baking soda and water and remove even the peskiest stains.
7. The Oven
If you use the oven often, then it’s going to be dirty. Give it a deep clean by chipping off burnt food and spraying ammonia on the pesky pieces. Put a few drops of white vinegar and baking soda on the bottom, and use it to wipe away the grime.
8. The Rugs
In general, you don’t need to clean your area rugs yearly. But if you’ve neglected rug cleaning for a couple years running now, then it might be time to do it. Treating stains with club soda usually does the trick. Don’t over clean though – it wears down the material.
9. The Closet

10. The Bookshelves
Bookshelves could get dusty if you don’t really use it, or vastly disorganized if you are an avid reader. Take the time to dust off the nooks and crannies of the bookshelf and reorganize your things so that it looks clean and appealing again.
11. The Patio Furniture
It’s almost springtime, which means that you can be using your outdoor furniture again. And almost certainly, your patio furniture needs a thorough cleaning after being out in the elements for the entire winter. Wash your things with warm water and dish soap and hose down with a garden hose. You’ll need to let everything air dry first before using.
