Carbon monoxide (CO) is a deadly gas that cannot be detected by human senses. Basic household appliances such as cookers, boilers, stoves and fireplaces can all produce carbon monoxide. So for safety and peace of mind... if you are running a solid fuel appliance in your home or workplace, it is important that it is serviced regularly and chimneys are swept.

In addition, we cannot emphasise enough the importance of having a CO detector alarm. A CO alarm detects the presence of carbon monoxide gas in order to prevent fatal carbon monoxide poisoning. If you do have one installed – don't forget to test it regularly!
