Just completed an amazing job refurbishing the worst keel we’ve ever seen, good team effort thanks Leigh !
So, this keel was not only a god awful casting in the first place with porosity, inclusions etc but it had severe electrolytic corrosion leaving craters well over an inch deep.
We blasted all the old rust and filler (which was wet) out of the metal leaving a horrible but clean dry surface. We applied solvent free epoxy with silica and micro balloons mixed into a light filler and worked this into the metal. This was built up over a couple
of days then the solvent free epoxy filler
mix was sanded and neat epoxy applied and bladed smooth-you can see the reflections in the pics. then applied a final coat of epoxy and left the roller finish ready for primer and anti-foul.
Should last a bloody long time, but as always comes with our famous “tail- light“ warrantee

After completing the Army work boats we then went onto remove the antifoul from a Borderforce Rib, Ni**od, this took us about 5 hours including tenting up and clearing away, trouble is I forget to take pictures !! Note to self…. get these done !!
