Ok so I need an outlet for a sense check with you all … as a female business owner and a mother of 2 girls and 1 boy I want all my children, irrespective of s*x, to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin and in how they express themselves … as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone then this should be perfectly acceptable in 2026 shouldn’t it?!
Then yesterday I heard a story that left me with a combination of fury, exasperation and utter bewilderment … so my friends 19 year old daughter visited a pub yesterday after having a lovely relaxed day by Pickmere lake with her besties, they walked down in shorts and bikini tops to have a cold drink on a very hot day … why the hell not, wish I had had that level of body/ self confidence at 19!
To my horror they were refused service unless they put tops on, now I can understand having a dress code completely, however when there are topless MEN being served and sat drinking in the beer garden already … my question is this, am I overreacting or is there an absolute level of discrimination happening here that my current outrage is justified in its existence? Genuine question as I feel like I need some perspective on this?! Why is it that it’s acceptable for men to have their top half in show but for a woman not to?!
Please do feel free to tell me I am wrong, but I can’t help but feel this is utterly out of kilter with what we should expect for our daughters/ women as a whole in 2026!
Picture is purely for attention purposes but is me dressed as Pulp Fiction for an old mates 50th recently 😝😎
