🧰 Today’s Job: A Tricky Leak

Not every hot tub fault is obvious.
Today I was called out to a spa with a persistent leak that wasn’t showing itself easily.

After a full inspection, I discovered the cause: the speakers were mounted on the inside of the spa. When the family got in, the displacement of the water pushed the level up — and it leaked straight through the speakers.

Rather than replacing the speakers (which would have cost a lot), I advised the customer to blank them off to prevent future issues.

While on site, I gave the whole system a thorough check.
👉 Sometimes, nothing beats good old experience to spot problems others might miss.

💦 Hot Tub Ready for the Next Guests!

Just finished a minor repair and full water change on this holiday let hot tub in Redruth Cornwall.
It had been switched off for a few days with no chemicals, so it wasn’t smelling too fresh 😅

Here’s what we did:
✅ System flush & surface clean
✅ Filters cleaned (using my new £20 handheld pressure washer from Amazon – brilliant bit of kit!)
✅ Fresh fill with clean water
✅ Chemicals added and balanced — ready for the next guests this afternoon.

🧰 Hot Tub Tip!
I’ve just picked up a new handheld battery-powered water pressure washer from Amazon, and it’s made filter cleaning so much easier 💪

Here’s what I did:
✅ Sprayed the filters first with instant filter cleaner
✅ Then rinsed them off with the handheld washer

It’s powerful enough to do the job properly, but not too strong to damage the filters (unlike a full-size pressure washer, which I don’t recommend).

If you’re keeping your spa in top condition, this little gadget is worth a look!

Canadian Spa Service & Fault Fix ✅

Yesterday we were called out to service a commercial Canadian Spa that's been getting some serious use. Full system flush, full inspection — the pump was noisy so the customer was expecting the worst.

But instead of replacing parts for the sake of it, we traced the issue back to a simple bit of pipework that was resonating through the shell and making the noise sound far worse than it was.

✅ No expensive pump swap needed
✅ Problem solved quickly
✅ Happy customer & money saved

Canadian Spas don’t go wrong often — they’re built solid — so it was interesting to see one in action after a lot of heavy use. Always satisfying solving a fault properly rather than just throwing parts at it.
