As soon as I looked outside and saw what the weather was doing, I pretty much decided it was officially a PJ day. You know the vibe… pottering about, doing those “I’ll do it later” jobs (that have been waiting since approximately 2019), reading a few chapters of my book, catching up on TV… and in my case, squeezing in a bit of work too because apparently I don’t know how to fully relax.

I was genuinely happy with that plan. Proper content. Cozy. Safe. Predictable.

Until…

Out of the blue, I get a message from one of my oldest friends:
“This weather is getting on my nerves. Feeling like an adventure. Want to come out to play? Let’s jump on a plane and go somewhere hot for a few days — come on, let’s go!”

Excuse me?? The AUDACITY. The temptation. The chaos.

Now here’s the thing… I am truly blessed with the best friends anyone could wish for, and I do love being spontaneous. I’m the kind of person who can be convinced with very little effort if you say the words “sunshine” and “a few days away” in the same sentence.

And it just so happens… I’ve got a suitcase sitting in the hallway that I was literally about to shove in the loft. If I put everything in place (and by “everything” I mean: make sure the house isn’t a crime scene, the work bits are covered, and I’ve got clean pants), I could actually do this.
