💧 Every Drop Counts 💧

With many areas of the UK currently experiencing dry weather and temporary hosepipe restrictions, we all have a part to play in using water responsibly.

The good news? Looking after your hot tub properly can actually help you get the very best from your water, meaning fewer unnecessary water changes.

Here are a few simple ways to make your spa water last longer:

✅ Take a quick shower before you get in
Removing deodorant, fake tan, body lotions, makeup and cosmetics means less contamination enters the water, reducing the amount of chemicals needed to keep it balanced.

✅ Keep the cover on whenever the spa isn’t in use
This reduces evaporation, keeps debris out and helps maintain water quality.

✅ Lower the temperature slightly if you’re not using it every day
Dropping the temperature by just a couple of degrees when the spa is idle can reduce evaporation and save energy too.

✅ Rinse your filters regularly
A clean filter works more efficiently, helping your water stay cleaner for longer.

✅ Test little and often
Small chemical adjustments are much easier than trying to correct water that’s been neglected.

✅ Avoid washing towels and swimwear after every short soak if they’re still clean
A simple way to save even more water around your hot tub routine.

✅ If you use your spa daily, consider wearing a swimming cap
It helps keep hair products out of the water and may reduce how often you need to wash your hair.

🌿 None of these changes are huge on their own, but together they can help extend the life of your hot tub water, reduce chemical consumption, save energy and play a small part in conserving one of our most precious resources.

At Hot Tubs at Home, we’re passionate about helping you enjoy your spa responsibly. If you’re unsure whether your water really needs changing or you’d like advice on getting the most from it, just give us a call, we’re always happy to help.

Let’s all do our bit. 💙💦

🎉 Celebrating 15 Years of Outstanding Service! 🎉

Today is a very special day here at Hot Tubs at Home as we celebrate an incredible milestone.
A huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you to Mark Dunford, who today celebrates 15 years with our business. 👏💙

Over the last 15 years, Mark has completed countless spa / swimspa / sauna installations, travelled thousands of miles, attended emergency call-outs, solved problems that others couldn't, and consistently gone above and beyond for both our customers and our team.

Through supplier changes, busy summers, freezing winters and everything in between, Mark has been a constant.
His loyalty, dedication, professionalism and willingness to help wherever needed have played a huge part in making Hot Tubs at Home what it is today.
In a world where long service is becoming increasingly rare, reaching 15 years with one company is an achievement that deserves to be celebrated.

Mark, thank you for everything you've done over the past 15 years. We genuinely couldn't have asked for a better colleague, engineer and friend.
Here's to the next chapter! 🥂

Please join us in congratulating Mark on this fantastic achievement. ❤️

Why Buy a Sauna in Warm Weather? 🔥

A sauna might sound like a winter luxury, but it’s actually a brilliant addition to your garden all year round.
Summer is often the best time to create new wellness routines. Long evenings make it easier to slow down, step away from screens and enjoy a peaceful sauna session before relaxing outdoors as the temperature drops.

A home sauna gives you:
• A private space to switch off and unwind
• A soothing post-workout ritual for tired muscles
• Time for calm, mindfulness and uninterrupted relaxation
• The perfect way to enjoy cooler summer evenings
• A beautiful garden feature you can use throughout every season
• That wonderfully refreshed feeling after a cool shower

You can also adjust how you use your sauna with the seasons. During warmer weather, choose a shorter session, lower the temperature slightly and finish with a refreshing shower or cold plunge.

Buying in summer also means your sauna can be installed, ready and waiting long before the colder evenings arrive — rather than joining the autumn rush!

A sauna isn’t simply about escaping cold weather. It’s about creating your own private wellness space at home, 365 days a year.

Always stay well hydrated, avoid using a sauna after drinking alcohol and follow the recommended session guidance for your sauna.

💙 A little Sunday thought from a small independent business…

We genuinely love helping people.

Whether you’ve bought your hot tub from us or not, we’ll happily spend time testing your water, explaining chemical issues, helping you diagnose problems, talking you through filter care, or answering questions that have taken us nearly 20 years to learn.

That’s what specialist retailers do.

But something has been happening more and more recently…

Customers come in, ask for advice, find the exact products they need, then stand in front of us searching online to see if they can save a few pounds before saying, “We’ll order it online instead.”

Of course everyone is free to shop wherever they choose, and we completely understand that budgets matter.

But here’s something worth thinking about…

The website you’re buying from wasn’t here on a Sunday afternoon helping you solve your problem.

It isn’t paying for a showroom that’s open seven days a week.

It isn’t employing experienced staff who can answer your questions.

It isn’t holding stock on the shelf so you can walk out with what you need today.

Independent businesses survive because people see value in all of those things—not just the product itself.

If everyone uses local specialists for advice but buys elsewhere, eventually those specialists disappear. And when they do, there’ll be nowhere left to pop in for water testing, troubleshooting, emergency chemicals, maintenance advice or that friendly face who knows your spa inside out.

We’re incredibly grateful to the customers who continue to support local businesses. Every purchase, no matter how big or small, helps keep that service available for everyone.

Thank you for choosing local. It genuinely means more than you probably realise.

☀️ HOT WEATHER & YOUR HOT TUB WATER 💦

When temperatures rise, your hot tub may need a little extra attention to keep the water clear, safe and comfortable.

Hot weather can mean:
• Sanitiser gets used up more quickly...
Sunlight, heat and increased use can all reduce chlorine or bromine levels faster than usual.
• More people = more demand on the water...
Sun cream, body oils, sweat and cosmetics all place extra pressure on the filtration and sanitising system.
• pH can drift more easily...
Jets, aeration and frequent use can cause pH levels to rise, which can make your sanitiser less effective.
• Cloudy or foamy water may develop faster...
This is often caused by low sanitiser, dirty filters or a build-up of products brought into the water by bathers.

Our top summer water-care tips:
💦 Test your water before use and again after heavy use
💦 Keep chlorine or bromine within the recommended range for your chosen treatment system
💦 Maintain the pH within the range shown on your chemical instructions — typically around 7.2–7.6 for comfortable and effective water care
💦 Shock the water after parties, heavy use or whenever it starts to lose clarity
💦 Rinse filters regularly and use a proper filter-cleaning solution as required
💦 Ask everyone to shower before entering, especially when wearing sun cream
💦 Keep the cover on when the spa is not being used to reduce contamination and protect the water
💦 Leave the cover open briefly after adding shock treatment, following the product instructions
💦 Never mix chemicals together, and always add them exactly as directed on the packaging.

During very warm spells, many owners also choose to reduce the set temperature slightly so the spa remains refreshing and comfortable.

Clear-looking water is not always correctly balanced, so regular testing remains essential.
Recommended public-health guidance is to maintain effective disinfectant and pH levels, with hot tubs generally requiring at least 3ppm free chlorine or 4–8ppm bromine and a pH of 7.0–7.8; customers should still follow the specific instructions supplied with their own treatment products and equipment.

Smaller unused spaces can be the perfect hot tub places!

Recently we have been asked more and more for smaller / more compact spas for courtyards, balconies, patios and rooftop gardens.
Thankfully we have such a large product offering, we can accommodate these smaller spaces and create the perfect wellness retreat in even the cosiest of corners.

If you have a smaller space and thought "I don't have room for a hot tub", contact us and let's see if that's really the case.

💧 Hosepipe Ban Update for Our Customers 💧

We’ve had a number of customers asking how the current hosepipe bans may affect hot tubs, so we wanted to provide a quick update.

At present, Hot Tubs at Home will continue operating as normal, including:

✅ Scheduled maintenance visits
✅ Water changes included within maintenance plans
✅ Servicing and repairs
✅ Warranty work
✅ New installations and commissioning

These activities form part of our professional commercial services, and unless the relevant water company specifically extends restrictions to commercial servicing of hot tubs, we will continue to look after our customers as usual.

What if I maintain my own hot tub?

If you normally carry out your own water changes at home, please check the guidance issued by your own water supplier, as restrictions can vary depending on where you live. Some water companies may restrict the domestic use of hosepipes for filling hot tubs during a Temporary Use Ban.

Customers using hot tubs for health or medical reasons

If your hot tub is used for hydrotherapy, rehabilitation or other medical or wellbeing needs, your water company may have specific guidance or exemptions available. Again, we recommend checking directly with your own supplier if you’re unsure.

Our commitment

We will continue to monitor guidance from all relevant water companies and, should any restrictions be introduced that specifically affect our ability to carry out commercial servicing, we will contact any affected customers as soon as possible.

Until then, it’s business as usual, and we’re here to keep your hot tub clean, safe and ready to enjoy.

As always, we encourage everyone to use water responsibly wherever possible.

If you have any questions about your maintenance plan or upcoming service, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team.

Sometimes when we install pools or swimspas, saftey rails / barriers are an essential.
Especially when young children or pets are around, or the pool is raised and height is a factor.

But you don't have to put fencing up and make the area look like a jail, or zoo enclosure. 😬

Some solutions can look stunning...
You can use steel wire, rope, light-casting screens or glass panels... take a look. What would you choose?
