Had the privilege of working for the Bristol Royal Infirmary, (we do contractural work here already). We’ve been installing pigeon netting to prevent mass roosting on a service walkway. This prevents the build up of fouling on walkways, mitigating the risk of slips and falls, removing an area of pigeon harbourage, thus making the area safer for people to conduct maintenance.

We do bird proofing for commercial premises as well as domestic.

We teamed up with Falconry Services to get the job done in good time.

If you need proofing of any description, don’t hesitate to contact Raptor Pest Control.

It’s been an eclectic few days, wasps, rats and squirrels.

Squirrels are preparing for winter and making dreys within lofts. They are extremely destructive once inside your property, so it’s crucial they are controlled in good time.

Additionally, wasps are still going strong!

Rats are always active and we’ve had multiple treatments recently.

We’re staring a new contract tomorrow at a waste management site. This should be interesting and will be another large contract entrusted to us to manage.

We’ve been busy eradicating wasp nests. We only control those that pose a risk to public health.

Wasps are regarded with contempt, they can be a nuisance but their role within the ecosystem is crucial.

Public health takes precedence however, and when they’re located close to your home then we’d encourage their control.

Most of these nests were treated in and around Tewkesbury and The Three Counties.

Another excellent July Installer of the Month entry, this time from Josh at Raptor Pest Control in Tewkesbury 👏🐦

Josh carried out a full integrated pest management service after bird mites were discovered inside the property. This included two residual insecticidal spray treatments, fumigation of the house and loft, and the careful removal of historic nesting material from the eaves.

Bird mites can enter homes after birds leave the nest and the hungry mites begin searching for another host. They may travel down exterior walls and enter through window frames, or move from nests in loft spaces through gaps in ceilings and walls.

The vacant starling and house sparrow nests were safely removed, and the access points were proofed to help prevent further nesting next year.

Josh then fitted Defender Thistle® Gutter Spikes to discourage birds from returning. These simply clip over the gutter edge, sitting centrally above it while allowing water to flow freely underneath. They can also be removed for annual gutter cleaning.

At only 62 mm high, Defender Thistle® Gutter is discreet and virtually invisible from ground level, while still working hard to keep pest birds away.

Thank you to Josh for choosing Defender Bird Spikes and for sending these photos 📸

For efficient bird control in Tewkesbury and the surrounding area, Josh at Raptor Pest Control is your go to local expert.

⚠️ This is RAT activity. I service a neighbouring site and the current supplier of this site isn’t managing the extensive rat infestation.

We’re in the process of trying to win this contract.

6 months prior I proposed an intensive riddance treatment - suffice to say it has now manifested into something far worse than it was.

If they were quicker to act with my original proposal, rats wouldn’t have entered the premises. They’ve excavated under the foundations of the commercial site, exacerbating the issue.

This manifestation of rat activity shows just how quickly they can establish and become a significant problem.

We’re working behind the scenes to say “I told you so” in a professional manner! 😅

An extremely severe rat infestation. Check out the before and after, much better!

An initial riddance treatment was completed to eradicate the rat infestation. This was a multi week treatment until rat activity was controlled.

Upon completion we undertook a clearance removing all contaminants and implementing a biocide treatment, thus disinfecting the loft. The loft is now free from activity and the potential spread of disease.
