What is Vapour Blasting?

Vapour blasting (aqua blasting, wet blasting, hyro blasting, slurry blasting, wet bead blasting, wet abrasive blasting or liquid honing) is a wet blasting process which uses a specialised, non-destructive slurry of media and water to remove debris from a variety of components. Vapour blasting achieves an outstanding, pristine finish which cannot be achieved by hand. The satin finish can be handled without leaving finger marks, is very easy to keep clean and is immediately ready to paint.

All this and more information can be found on our website https://www.maxspeedvapourblasting.co.uk/what-is-vapour-blasting The media travels across the surface, gently cleaning the component by flow of water - not by impact - so it doesn't remove any of the structural material. The water acts as a lubricant to the media - like a cushioning or lapping effect - so there is no damage to the underlying component... and yes, that includes aluminium, steel and magnesium too! We recycle the media as part of our standard process. Damaged media and dirt is filtered off on an ongoing basis to ensure both a consistent finish and a cleaner overall process.

The media type that we use for over 90% of our work is a very fine ceramic bead - a very soft, robust and versatile wet blasting media. The slurry is delivered via compressed air within a specialised sealed cabinet to give a lubricating and flushing action. The process itself is highly adjustable in several ways, allowing us to deal with all types of components and materials. Vapour blasting is such an awesome process that we are excited to provide it as a service to individuals, companies and groups. The vapour blasting process is suitable for most things including aluminium, bronze, magnesium, titanium, steel, iron, brass, copper etc. For Typical Uses and Advantages of this process please refer to these linked pages on our website https://www.maxspeedvapourblasting.co.uk. The size of our cabinet is our main limitation, but as a guide we can fit V8 engine blocks, casings, carburettors, cam covers, oil sumps and most fixtures and fittings inside the vapour blasting cabinet quite comfortably. Cabinet dimensions are included within the Useful Information page of our website. The media and water slurry contains a lightweight anti-rust agent to help to prevent corrosion. We also apply a rust-prevention agent after items have been dried on any areas prone to flash rusting. Refer to Useful Information on our website for more details about rust and corrosion.
