Here’s one of our recent projects completed in Neyland. Thanks to Donna for creating this photo collage of the original fireplace and the finished article!
This installation was quite a challenge, with the opening to the chimney being extremely narrow and working with a timber stud and plasterboard wall. In carrying out this installation a section of the plasterboard and stud work was removed and replaced with fireboard. This was then plastered with Vitcas high temp plaster before being tiled over using Vitcas high temp tile adhesive and split face - slate effect tiles. Whilst carrying out the job we were also asked to tile within the right hand recess - what a great idea!
With there being sockets hidden around the corner behind the stud, it was a no brainier opting for one of our non combustible wood effect beams with fitted lights. We made sure to opt for a size which complimented the length of the tv and overall created the best aesthetics.
The hearth was cut on site, using the curve of the stove top as a template to make the perfect bespoke match.
In connecting up the stove, we chose to play it safe in connecting up to the chimney liner - we used twin wall insulated flue to bridge the cavity of the stud wall. (5” Single skin flue pipe needs to be 15” from combustibles, whereas twin wall insulated flue requires 2”)
The stove fitted is the Eurostove Westfire Uniq 37 Compact.
(The wall hung model is available to view at our showroom)
