Getting to coach these children day in day out is the reason why I got into coaching. I taught each and everyone of these from such a young age and basically taught them to swim making this one of my proudest moments. They work so hard during our school sessions, swim squads and outside 1-2-1’s I could not ask for more, even though I do want more from them 😂. I said at the start of the Year to them all we’ve got targets to hit:
Telford and Wrekin Champions
County Prep Champions
Qualify for IAPS Nationals finals
Qualify for English Schools National relays… and we’ve done the lot. The best thing about it is there’s still so much more to come from this bunch and all of our other swimmers who push each other on a daily basis. Proud is an understatement 😃😃😃😃

A massive congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 swimmers who competed in the Telford and Wrekin Primary Schools Gala last night. Our swimmers swam in individual races across all 4 strokes and both relays, overall coming first in our category, a fantastic performance by all, well done Wrekin Prep!

Love using this drill for freestyle. Used for slowing strokes down and hitting the 3 main checkpoints…. Hold for 3 seconds…. the pull towards the hips while starting the rotation from hips and shoulders… high elbow recovery hold… extension of hand entry… Slowing strokes down is perfect for ironing out bad habits, repetitive drills over and over then move into full strokes 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

What a crazy manic 2 weeks we’ve had of Easter crash courses 🐣 As always what makes these courses so enjoyable is the different levels of abilities we start the week
with. 😀

Lessons specific to each child’s needs and targets so they achieve as much as possible during the course! A quick total up of certificates achieved over both weeks and we are amazed at the progress made 🏅

* 9 5metres
* 11 10metres
* 14 25metres
* 7 50metres
* 6 100metres

And that doesn’t include the distances badges right up to 1000m/ stage certificates that children have achieved, alongside all of the club swimmers we’ve had wanting to perfect certain aspects of their strokes/dives/turns/speed! A huge well done to all children for pushing through new challenges and barriers to achieve so many targets 🏊‍♂️

Of course a massive thank you goes to all teachers too who I know have really enjoyed these courses as much as the children have, so a big thank you to Matt Archie Zara Macey Maya Michelle Tabitha Yasmin 🌟

Next course will be May half term!

🐣🐣Easter Crash Courses 🐣🐣
We’ve had a fantastic first 3 days of our crash courses this week with so many achievements which will be updated tomorrow! As we approach the last day of our current week we do have a few slots available for next week Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th April, if you’re interested drop me a message for any more details. 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️

We are off to the English Schools National finals to represent West Midlands!! At the start of the Academic Year one target was to achieve National qualification in the English School Relay Champs and we did it in both Freestyle and Medley relays. The effort application and willingness to push for more each session has paid off. A huge team effort not just from these 5 but from all of our swimmers who continue to push each other to achieve more every session and we have such strength in depth because of this. Couldn’t be a prouder coach really really fully deserved! 😀😀

A huge congratulations to five of our amazing swimmers who have qualified for the Nationals, representing the West Midlands in the English Schools Swimming Relay Championships. They delivered outstanding performances in both the freestyle and medley relays – an incredible achievement!

Their hard work, commitment, and team spirit have truly paid off. Competing at this level is no small feat, and to progress in both relay events shows not only your individual talent, but also the strength you bring as a team.

We are so proud of you all and very excited to see you swim at Sheffield in June!

Another phenomenon effort from Kitty this weekend! 11 Golds and 1 Silver across 12 events. It’s great seeing a child that got taught to swim in our lessons and is continuing to push on and when I mean push on there’s so much planned from myself and Wrekin Swim Club. Getting into the technical sides of her stroke in her 1-2-1’s, school sessions for overall fitness and stroke development, extra school sessions for speed from the blocks and turns then our swim squad for strength and stamina work…. And never mind the hours and hours she does at Wrekin Swim each week. Pushing for more each week 🏊‍♀️
